Right now I look at the Bears CB group as being

1. Fuller
2. Porter
3. ____________________
4. Callahan
5. McManis

Could really use a Hayward or Robinson to possibly play the slot and be the primary backup.

Still like Heyward. He'd fit the slot well

That empty slot will get filled with a draft pick, imo. I like the cb depth in this draft and Chicago happens to have a need for a young corner.

They could easily draft the 3rd CB, as a NB and long term replacement for Porter.

But if they sign a guy like Hayward, they can move the draft to focus on DL and S.

I doubt they draft someone at 11 to be a backup unless it is a QB for a year.
If Hargraves somehow drops to 11, Pace paying Porter something like #40 CB money would not likely preclude him from have his guy sprint to the podium. Not sure what NFL you have been watching.

RE:
NT: Goldman
LE: Hicks [Assuming]

OLB: Young
ILB: Trevathan
ILB:
OLB: McPhee

CB: Fuller
CB: Porter
NB:
FS: Amos
SS:

Assuming that the Bears sign Hicks I still see a need for 4 starters, which is rich for a draft.

That is a little skewed as there are not 12 starters. I see the point though.

If they draft Hargraves, he is playing on the outside. They would have to move Porter.

You don't think Timu can fill that ILB spot.

I don't want to hand it to him.

So let's assume you use a decent pick on an ILB to compete with Timu and he the primary backup up.

You would still need one for

S
CB
DE

TE

I really feel if they land Hicks they still need to plug one more hole before the draft.

He left the other LB spot open for Shea :)

Yeah we're in clear need of another legit CB. We need to remember Porter's injury history. I don't ever wanna see McManis playing anything other than special teams. I did like some things that Callahan did with his minimal time at NB but if i remember correctly he's on the short side and he's a UDFA. I would love for them to get P.Robinson but he was on a one year prove it deal last year and i guess he played pretty well so he's probably looking for a 4/5 year deal and i don't think Pace will give that long a contract out after signing Porter to 3 years. We definitely need help at CB.

Well there was interest in the CB position from Pace so he knows we have a need but i'm hoping he doesn't thinks he filled it with Porter. Pace is a smart man and if we see the need then there's no way he doesn't see it. We still have plenty of money left and 9 draft picks so i'm sure we'll be bringing at least two in in free agency and the draft.

I would Hargreaves at 11, but I am not sure he gets past Philly at 8 imo

I know Bears fans don't see it but i still think A.Rolle can give us a good season at SS. He was injured pretty much all of last year so he obviously will need to stay healthy but if he does then i think he'll be just fine at SS. Now i'm not saying i wouldn't love to upgrade at SS and have my eye on Miles Killebrew in the draft but i am saying if it comes down to Rolle as our starting SS i won't be as worried as most Bears fans.
