Battleground Europe (see screenshots), an MMO based on the European Theater during World War II, now is offering a free trial. Visit www.battlegroundeurope.com/trial.
Playnet/Cornered Rat Software also announced an update called Player Built Objects. Ground troops will be able to construct defenses such as gun emplacements, infantry fighting positions and more.
The company also announced a new pricing plan with subscriptions starting at $12.99 a month.

- Build an empire in the ancient strategy game Bronze from Shrapnel Games and Dreamspke Studios. The game features 10 campaigns and is available for Windows by download only for $29.95. Visit www.shrapnelgames.com.
- Rock Hippo Productions released a closed beta update for its cartoon-style shooter MicroVolts. In the game, toys from around the world find themselves at war.
- GamesCampus.com took over service and launched the racing MMORPG Drift City. Although in-game currency is not transferrable, GamesCampus plans various ways to compensate transferred players.
- On Dec. 7 look for Bejeweled 3 from PopCap Games for $19.99. The classic casual game Bejeweled has sold more than 50 units. Version 3 will include four new secret games.
- A Frontiers Free Weekend on Steam, offering free play of Shattered Horizon and Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West, will be Nov. 4-7, Futuremark Games Studio and Fatshark announced. During the weekend, the games also will be on sale.
- Players can sign up for the beta test of Dungeons from Kalypso Media. The game, set to launch in February 2011, follows the midsadventures of a Dungeon Lord. Visit www.dungeons-game.com to sign up for the beta
