Am I the only one that thinks this guy has no business being the lead reporter for Espn Chicago??

For starters I'm pretty sure he's a Knicks fan... He is a huge Syracuse fan so I'm pretty sure he's a Knicks fan too.

His analysis of the Bulls is never really that in deep in basketball knowledge. Many of you are familiar with the writing of Doug Thonus and I feel that Doug posses a ton more basketball knowledge and it shows in his Blogs

Lookin over the Bulls vs Heat predictions he took the Heat in 6, really?? He could have at least gave us a game 7 loss. He always seems to doubt the Bulls in his last chat after the Bulls game 1 or game 3 loss he said it wouldnt surprise him if the Bulls lost the next 3

Dont get me wrong the guy is a quality writer I just think he should be writing articles about firefighters rescuing cats from trees or something, anything but our Chicago Bulls

IMO He's good at reporting, weak at analysis. But that's ESPN for you :)

I think Friedell is really good and knows the league well. Who he is a fan of doesn't matter...as long as he give sound, objective analysis. He is a beat writer, not a columnists so his opinions matter less than his analysis. Being a fan has never been a prerequisite for covering the team in the past. I personally don't want columnists and beat writers to be fan boys. I want them to be good at what they do.

And while there are many good bloggers....90% of them are fanboys, some with their own agendas. I say let journalists be journalists...and let bloggers blog.

If you think Nicks analysis has no depth, how can you mention Doug? He's nothing but a fan with stat sheets in front of him. Nothing I've ever heard from doug was anything more than flavor of the week thoughts and opinions.

Nick does a great job covering the bulls. He doesn't have to pick us to win. The fact that he's unbiase enough to pick the heat makes me like him more

Maybe its just the homer in me that dislikes him! Ya I agree he is a great writer not a big fan of his analysis, but and I didnt think about him being a beat writer that is true

Nick is very fun and upbeat when he joins ESPN 1000. When you hear him on the radio, he becomes a lot more likable.

It is a worthwhile conversation...here is a question...do any of you know of people who may blog about Chicago media? Radio, television and print media? I would love to find someone who follows that area of sports...
