According to the Chicago Tribune’s Phil Rogers, the Cubs are kicking around an idea for a trade involving Kosuke Fukudome with the Boston Red Sox for Daisuke Matsuzaka as part of a multi-player package.
In October, the Tribune’s Paul Sullivan said the Cubs are likely going to trade the 33-year-old Fukudome this winter, and that the team is likely going to have to eat a good portion of the remaining $13.5 million on his contract.
By moving Fukudome, it will open up right field for rookie Tyler Colvin with Alfonso Soriano in left field and Marlon Byrd in center field.
The Cubs tried to move Fukudome last July but were unsuccessful even though it was likely at that time the team would be willing to absorb much of his 2010 and 2011 salary. The Boston Red Sox were known to be interested in the outfielder back in June.

What do you think? Jap-for-Jap?

Yuck. Daisuke has an extra year on his contract worth 10 million. Not to mention this would just create another hole on the team. Fuku should be the starting RF for us next year.

You mean if Colvin is trade, right? Considering Kosuke lost his starting job to Colvin, I'm pretty sure Colvin or Jackson would be starter,

I would start Fuku over Colvin. Kosuke brings something to the table that we don't have a lot of, getting on base.

If we can get a few million I would be down.

Would like to see what he could do in the NL.

Ya, if we get $ and a move to the NL for Matsuzaka may not be bad.

He really didn't do that last season to well. He hasn't been good for us since we got him he must be dealt for cap relief.

MLB doesn't have a salary cap BTW, but ya, it's about money.

I think we should trade Fukudome for Carmelo Anthony, myself.

But on the fo'real...I'd rather keep Kosuke than trade him for Matsuzaka.

He blocks Jax, unless Colvin is traded, then Fuke is an expensive bench player again.
