When was that? I remember he was dinged and sitting a lot anyway. With him, it was all about getting on the field, not getting him off. If this team though it had a chance this year, he may well have been part of it.

I think many of us did expect a D turn around this year with good coaching and a ball control O. They couldn't have been in a worse situation the last 2 years. The D coaching was so bad that you couldn't properly evaluate players and the abandon the run O had our D Tuckered out.

I'm talking about the year when he got burned by Steve Smith in the playoffs. He hadn't been doing well and prior to that and that game was icing on the cake. He turned it around the next season. Hopefull the same can be said for Fuller but it isn't looking good.

He played great that year (5 picks, sack, 4 forced fumbles, TD for win in overtime on a pick) and was a reason we got to those playoffs. If you're talking about his 1st 2 years in the league, maybe but that's over ten years ago.

Credit the offense for holding the ball and letting the def get a rest also. It's a team effort.

Agreed Joe. The Bears are making the game shorter which helps their defensive numbers some. That being said, the Defense is definitely improved with Tucker gone. We should see the defense continue to improve over the year as they become more disciplined.

Are you implying that their featured metric that waters down DVOA by including FO's own preseason projections in the calculation is somehow flawed? They put the work in to "get a more accurate forecast of how a team will play the rest of the season." I'm not sure how thier subjective rankings of teams in the preseason doesn't result in accurately predicting the future performance of a NFL team in the regular season. Sounds bullet-proof to me. Until some site projects the season's NFL performance based on how pretty their uniforms are, it is the best we have.

You cannot get clicks back, they are committed for life.

That is all spelled out and put in its own column called DAVE. The Bears D is bad based only on what has happened on the field.

Cutting dead weight like Allen seems to be doing wonders. That along with the emergencies of our safety and amazing dl play this defense is shocking folks

Shocking is correct.

Like you said you have guys playing above their supposed talent level. Whether it is good coaching, good culture, or guys improving themselves it is nice to see.

Defense is getting better, but I'm not completely buying in. The low yardage against is due to them not being on the field because the offense has controlled the time of possession in basically all 4 games. Actually, what we are seeing is that the defense is not that efficient. For as little as they have been on the field, they have given up a lot of TDs. However, I do see a little improvement each game. Let's hope they keep improving.

To add to my last previous post.

KC has allowed Smith to be sacked 18 times already this year. So he should be seeing all kinds of pressure if the Bears front 7 truly is improved.

Game #1 Smith was sacked 2 times and hit 3 times by the Houston Texans defense. He threw for 3 TD and 0 INT & fumbled 0 times. Texans forced zero turnovers. KC only win of the year 27-20.

Game #2 Smith was sacked 4 times and hit 8 times by the Denver Broncos defense. He threw for 0 TD and 2 INT & fumbled 0 times. Broncos also forced 3 fumbles, giving them 5 turnovers for the game. KC lost 31-24

Game #3 Smith was sacked 7 times and hit 8 times by the Green Bay Packers defense. He threw for 1 TD and 1 INT & fumbled 2 times. Packers forced 1 turnovers. KC lost 38-28

Game #4 Smith was sacked 5 times and hit 10 times by the Cincinnati Bengals defense. He threw for 0 TD and 0 INT & fumbled zero times. Bengals forced 1 turnover. KC lost 36-21

So after 4 games Smith has throw for 4 TD / 3 INT / 2 fumbles.

He has also been sacked 18 times and hit 29 times & KC has still scored at least 21 points in every game so far this year.

Game 1 the Bears allowed 3 TD / 0 INT / 0 fumbles / 0 sacks / 0 hits & lost the game 31-23

Game 2 the Bears allowed 4 TD / 1 INT / 1 fumbles / 0 sacks / 6 hits & lost the game 48-23

Game 3 the Bears allowed 1 TD / 0 INT / 0 fumbles / 4 sacks / 10 hits & lost the game 24-0

Game 4 the Bears allowed 2 TD / 1 INT / 1 fumble / 2 sacks / 2 hits & won the game 22-20

The Bears defense has allowed 10 TD / 2 INT / 2 fumbles / 6 sacks / 18 hits & has given up at least 20 points in every game so far this year.

Regardless of what the Bears offense does. The Bears defense will likely struggle to put pressure on him even though they should be able to without much of a problem. They will also be likely to give up at least 20 points & probably more like 28+ against KC.

I hope I'm wrong but I will not be surprised if the Bears defense doesn't get the job done yet again this game. They should if they are improved but will they?

Not sure this is fair to the Bears defense...is it an elite defense? Of course not...but it has improved every game. Not to mention has faced Rodgers and Palmer the first two weeks and a 1 and 1/2 games of absolutely no offensive help.
