Seems like we're maybe 10 years from fusion being a viable power source.

Plenty of time for big brother to squash it.

I guarantee you there will be a huge lobby consisting of Solar/oil trying to kill this...

Seems like the companies specializing in Nuclear should be all in on this.

The smart thing would be to try to figure out how to adapt the tech into small scale, power homes, ranches, farms, etc.

Sell direct to the consumers, and don't try to build the big plants and be the big thing, let the old guard have that mess.

That'll probably be the "disruptor" once they struggle to hurdle the regulations to build the big plants.

Governments are going to want to control, tax and regulate.

There is no way in hell they are going to small scale this for home use at first.

Do you really want mini-stars in the hands of every joe blow on the planet?

Private company makes and sells home fusion generators no different from Generac doing it with natural gas.

I'd rather have every Joe blow on the planet have sustainable power that isn't controlled by a central authority, than have all power come from centrally owned and controlled Fusion plants that simply continue to charge w/e they want for electricity.

What you ought to attack is the notion of miniaturizing something like this, rather than attack me on the notion that American Private Industry cannot make an energy product safe enough to sell to consumers.

I feel like we are always saying this any time a story comes out about fusion.

He's been like this for months.

I actually wasn't being prickly for once.

Merely pointed out, if he wanted to attack my argument, the big flaw in my idea is the notion that miniaturizing a fusion reactor into a consumer product is even possible lol.

You are more bitter and jaded than even I am, and that's saying something...let me at least have the glimmer of the dream that everyone will have a little "sun" at home to heat and cool their home, cook food, and charge their car...let me have that little thing.

A fusion powered Ford Fusion would be pretty sweet.

They'll rename it to the Ford Fission and have it powered by Fusion because America.

I mean, that's where my head went, hence my idea on miniaturizing the tech.

They won't even need to squash the actual tech, just make it too expensive in one or more ways so the majority of consumers cannot get it.

We do not have anything close to a free market, its a rigged carnival game.
