GAR has to stop listening to TT

From ESPN.com The Bulls are fyling in John Lucas, whom they cut just before the start of the season, to sign as their third point guard. Rose hasn't been ruled out yet, but according to this report from ESPN's Marc Stein, Rose is "expected to skip the game," which will also leave his status for Saturday at Sacramento in doubt. This is a real shame because Rose has been playing at such a high level. Look for C.J. Watson to start if Rose can't go.

i just saw joewhwaks88 post this in another thread. i think it's worth it's own attention. we need to stop bringing in guys that TT feels comfortable with. The guy's comfort level with mediocre/turrible talent has unnerved me. Seriously **** BOGANS SCAL AND LUCAS


seriously you cant listen to this guy. he's one of the worst gm's out there. John lucas was beyond pathetic in summer league. Weaver outplayed him beyond a shadow of a doubt. i'm not saying we should sign weaver, but we shouldn't sign john lucas.

Scalabrine is a walking train wreck on the court.

Seriously if you've signed the oldest pf in the league to a lindsey hunter role, go out an get anthony toliver instead of scalabrine. you can't have 2 attrocious scrubs on your roster. at least toliver can play 5 minutes of center when joahkim or asik gets hurt/hit's a decent shot.


also on a related criticism, TT needs to lower the minutes of deng, rose, and noah.

Dude, you are overreaching here. Weaver is sooooooo not important right now.

My point wasn't that we should have gone after weaver, it's there has to be players out there that have more talent than john lucas and scalabrine. I get that TT likes them, but go after the talent. Screw the player's TT likes.

It goes on all the time across sports. Coaches bring in who they know can help the team, help push their philosophy, and probably be a mole, who knows? Scalabrine was NOT brought in to play 20 minutes a game. I hate to see him on the floor. But I think Thibs saw a guy who knew his system and could be a positive influence in the locker room.

And quite possibly Scal is just a guy who is helping Thibs adapt to his dream job. A lot of the great coaches have done it. Phil Jackson, Bill Parcells (Dave Meggett anyone?) and it happens a lot in baseball too. So I am not surprised he is on the roster, its going to be a 9, 10 man rotation at the most anyway, so Scal shouldn't do much damage.

In fairness, when you sign a guy the day of a game and expect him to come and play with any success at all, it helps if they guy knows your system already. That's pretty much why they signed Lucas over anyone better. Not that there's that many better options out there to begin with.

pull up a guy from the D league. Sundaita gaines is contributing to an nba team and so is anthony toliver. There have to be more players like them in the d league. Lucas is not nba quality.

Again, this is really more of a backup PG for a day job. They want someone who already knows the system. I doubt Gaines and Tolliver were signed to play with a team on the same day as their first game (and if that's the case, my bad). When it comes down to it, it's really Lucas or Weaver and Lucas was not playing with anyone (because he sucks, Weaver's in the DLeague right now I think) so he's readily available and knows the system. Very convenient for Thibs really instead of getting a guy there and having no time for practice or getting to know the plays and throwing him out on the court and saying "run the team for 10 minutes while Watson rests up please." I honestly expect more of Brewer being a PG or God forbid even Bogans bringing the ball up than Lucas playing 25 minutes, but I could be very wrong. As it is, if Rose is out of the game, we don't have much of a chance anyway so who cares right?
