The Ray's are always good at getting rid of their guys once they start going downhill. Garza's spring has been utterly worthless.

Granted spring training doesn't mean shit for veterans, but I feel like if you are a new guy on the team you would want to put your best foot forward from the get go.

Anyone else think the Cubs got hosed by the Ray's? I didn't like the trade from jump street (didn't understand why the Cubs made such a win now trade when the rest of their roster was not ready), and I am hating it even more right now.

It's Spring Training, I'll be concerned if he pitches like this when the season starts

He had a few good starts in a row before last outing. I'm not concerned.

But I was pretty much the only one that didn't like it from the start in that topic, so I think everyone knows I don't like it.

Did you see that anywhere? Or are you just making up an excuse for him?

Anyways, like I said in the original post, I know spring training doesn't mean jack to most people. But it is hard to ignore the fact the Ray's know when the get rid of their players.

He has thrown all his pitches, but not at the same time. In the beginning of ST, he nevered use his change. It's been on and off. Let's just say this, he has not pitched all his pitches like he would in the regular season.

The Rays got rid of him because they couldn't afford him.

It's safe to say the following is what I read.

Regardless, I have no reason to make excuses for him. I'm harder on the Cubs individual players than most Cubs fans on this board (for example, I'd be fine if we got rid of Colvin, and I think we're over-rating Castro)...And the Rays definitely know when to get rid of their players....when they become too good to be affordable. I don't see Carl Crawford having a huge drop-off this season b/c "the rays knew when to get rid of him"...

I had read somewhere the reason why he was getting lit up early was because he hadn't thrown a breaking ball yet.

Garza will be fine. First time he pitched in ARI this year for spring training. I still think he will be one of the best number 3's in all of baseball. Put him down for 15 wins with 3.5 ERA

i have no faith in Cubs offense. I think he will just dominate some games and win 2-1, 3-2..i love the Cubs bullpen this year to win 1 run games unlike last year.
