I'd like to see another level from the Hawks in what could be a preview of the WCF. I'm thinking this is going to be a tightly played game. Hawks win 3-2. Hossa finally gets going with a two goal performance.

I figure the 'hawks are either going to rise to the challenge and eek out a hard-fought victory against one of the hottest teams in the league or get their first shellacking of the year. I'm really hoping for the former.

PP favors us by a longshot--our top forwards (Hossa, Toews, Kane, and Sharp) have 16 of their 23 combined points on the PP (3 on the PK, 5 ES); and Anaheim's PK is relaively weak. Even though our PK is strong (and our two SHGs are tied with Boston for the league lead thus far), their PP converts at a slightly better clip than ours, so discipline and drawing penalties will be key. Hammer has to stay out of the box.

Should be a good test for Darling. He had some good poise against the Sens early on while the D was still in the locker room; Anaheim is much more dangerous, though.

Richards will be paired with Sharp. Hossa/Toews on the first line. I believe it was Saad/Kane/Shaw for line #2.

You have to find lines that work. Right now, the Hawks haven't done shit at even strength. It is pathetic. Eleven goals, good for 24th in the NHL. Only two ahead of Buffalo and Carolina. Ahead of powerhouse offenses like Buffalo, St. Louis, Carolina, Arizona, Ottawa, and Florida... That's completely inexcusable given their forward talent.

Yeah, 6 games in which they scored 2 goals, OR LESS-- the other two were Buffalo/Philly, so that makes the GF 2.75.

I guess they're really taking the new "ONE GOAL" campaign quite literally this year.

I'd be amazed if the Ducks actually made it that far, let alone out of the first round. Same story it's been with them the last few years, overperform in regular season, get bounced early in the playoffs.

Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews lost this game.

Bickell (amazingly, impossibly) made a hige play to wrap around the net and feed Toews with A WIDE OPEN CAGE IN THE MID SLOT and Toews blew it. Nice leadership.

Then golden boy Seabrook falls down 3x on the PP letting the ducks score a SHG to win it. PATHETIC.

Poor Scott Darling... another dazzling performance.

Get Toews and Seabrook out of here ASAP.

Again, if the Hawks continue to play the way they are playing in most of these games, they'll be finding the back of the net. Being in the bottom of the league in scoring right now means nothing seeing as how they've been playing. It's early in the season, so to start worrying about potential trends is kinda ridiculous. There will always be things that are sort of an anomaly right off the bat. Like when Toews and Kane and Carcillo all shared the same amount of goals scored a few games into the season or Carcillo scored before they did, whatever it was. Which, if you're an idiot about it like some are, then that must mean be that he is just as effective as they are on the ice at all times! Which is a ridiculous way to look at things. Even with as much random and pure chance and luck involved in hockey, things for the most part "normalize" over time, granted as long as the team sticks to what they do best. And they have. It's just a matter of time.

Please let me know when Toews decides to show up and maybe your logic will stand up.

Most overrated Hawk since Roenick and it's not even close... but but will continue to dick ride him on principle.

Agreed.

I really only have 2 complaints about the game: Seabrook doing the Curly Shuffle at the blueline, and the bad embellishment call on Shaw. Other than that I think the 'hawks controlled the play (even though they are snakebit as hell), the D was tight, and Darling had a great performace. The Ducks have firepower that is *actually* working right now and coming out with a single goal against at least shows that the back end will give the front end a fighting shot in ever game.

We just need to get the front end going. I think Q needs to try cattle prods.
