i have a German Luger that ima get when im 18. i cleaned her up & did a lil research on it today... but id like to know more.
i know it's a DWM brand, as indicated by the crest stamp on the top. the number on the back, above the handle is 583. other portions are stamped w/ a 38, & i dunno if the five is faded or what. ill post pics eventually, but it's @ a different location right meow. it's pre WWII since my great grandfather had it before the war. i also have pearl handles that have been placed on it, & id like to know some about those soon as well. ill post the brand of them soon. im really curious & would love to know more... lemme know if you have any info.

Its stamped with a 38 because it's a P38. It's a Walther, not a Luger(common mistake, they look similar). It's actually not a bad gun. Fires a 9mm round, good mag capacity, and respectable short range accuracy.

I have only fired one, but I know what you're talking about.

My bad then. The 38 threw me off, which is usually a dead giveaway for the walther design. Plus the walthers were the issue gun for WWII era Germany.

Just make sure you don't take off the bluing. If you do strip and clean it, just cloth and something like mineral oil(unscented generic baby oil/household item) will preserve it better, unless you actually have gun oil/CLP.
