I made a comment that if the Bulls were to trade Noah, the time to do it was last off-season. His value was at it's peak at that point. Don't worry about not wanting to give up Joakim Noah, other...

Rating at their differing salary values..

I'd say they are fairly close in trade value.

It depends on what the other team we are hypothetically trading with is looking for. If they are rebuilding, Taj is by FAR the better trade piece. If they are in a win-now mode and have a great player who is disgruntled and they want to get rid of, Noah is a better piece. Given the fact that Noah is in line for a good raise, Taj is easily the more sought-after player if a team is looking 2-3 years down the road.

Good article by Doug, btw.

Noah's highest value is right now. I'd love to dump off Deng and Gibson for a top player. That make the team a lot better. I'd like to keep Noah however, he does all the little things and you won't get a center who plays defense like him.

even if you pay Noah $75M over 5 years... that is pretty bad, I won't lie, just because it is so limiting. However, if the Bulls can find the right trade to give away Luol Deng (while maybe even getting some first round draft picks in the process), there is still plenty of hope to build a dominant, championship-contending team.

Who is gonna give us 1st round picks for Deng...unless that's ALL we get for him?

Quite frankly, I would be in-favor of dumping Deng for little-to-nothing if it means the Bulls can absorb the cap-space going forward. Gar Forman will obviously seek out multiple options, and will hopefully choose the best road.

I think the Bulls should explore some trade options to try to get Luol Deng in a Clipper uniform. Both teams (CHI, LAC) are under-the-cap right now. I'm not cap-ologist, but I know that in certain cases, the salaries don't need to match-up quite as well for trades to be legal under the rules (see the Hinrich-to-WAS draft-day trade).

Even if the Bulls can open up a little cap-room, it might be enough to afford a Yao Ming-Michael Redd combo next summer. (realistic free-agents, besides Melo, include: Yao, Redd, Richardson, Battier, Moon, Pietrus, Nene, Tyson Chandler, Grant Hill, Landry, Stojakovic, Dalembert... and these guys should all range from $2M-$9M per-season contracts)

Is it? Battier will probably demand about $6M a year. Redd may not even get $3M a year... he's had surgeries and most people believe he's 'done.'

I see both getting more...but I could be wrong.

Well, one thing is for sure......if the FO really wanted to give away Deng for little to nothing. All they would need to do is just call David Kahn over at Minnesota lol. They are stupid enough to trade for a contract like that. :lmao:

We couldn't trade him for cap space. Why would anyone throw in a first too now? Also how is trading away Deng for nothing (still not giving us cap space) gonna make us a better team? Noah is a nice player but he is no way worth that money.
