I think that's his major knock. He only shows up in preseason.

He never fit Flus’ scheme/down 4 man front or anything outside a 3-4/3-3-5 as a stand up edge, where he had all of his success in college and HS and in a bears Uni, despite what people claimed because they saw some jack ass provocateur like irishbearsshow or Adam Rank talk out of their ass on Twitter say ‘of course he played down DE in college’ when Flus got hired without googling who called defensive plays and their scheme/depth chart for U of Tulsa while Gipson played to make him sound like a good fit when the only thing good about his “fit” for the bears is being a 5th round draft rookie contract.

Dude was always perpetually blocked. If someone gives you a late pick for him take it and run. This “square peg in a round hole” didn’t work.

He showed flashes early in his career, when there was perennial pro bowlers around him but has look pretty meh in the here and now.
