It's unfortunate. I don't entirely blame KW for being given the free pass to spend a bunch of money the past 2 years... what I do blame him for is the horrible contracts he has burdened the team with the past 2 years. We are in some trouble and I really have little faith in KW to actually scout and sign minimum wage players that can actually contribute.
I hope I'm wrong.
I know this is beating a dead horse, but I still can't forgive him for that Dan Hudson deal.
What a fucking putrid trade.
Looks like we are rebuiling though. Still even in a minor rebuilding mode the sox are in such a bad division that anything can happen.
Sox have been re-building while competing for some time now. That is why we have Danks, Floyd, De Aza, Flowers, Quentin.
Sox have 16 players under 30 on the 25 man roster. I'm sure lots of teams can boast that. I have no evidence of this, but IMO, I figure KW won't move Danks unless his socks are blown off. Quentin on the other hand....
$69.5MM is committed to Crain, Dunn, Floyd, Konerko, Ohman, Pevy, Pierzynski, Ramirez, Rios and Viciedo.
De Aza and Quentin are arb eligible.
everyone else is under team control.
Personally, I think going all in was a two year commitment. I think they wait to trade Floyd since he has a team option after 2012 and they're going to use him while they can before they have to trade him, unless they can re-sign him down the road.
Given what we have, I don't think the Sox have to re-build. I look at the roster and I don't see a bad team, I know the results say otherwise, but I really think they should go at it again.
Yes. We just need some type of non-power hitter. We need some one to get on base and provide timely hitting. We have big bruiser up and down the line up, but no one that can get on base consistently, a la', a young Pierre.
The arms are good, that wasnt the problem last year.
