My favorite teams
The value curve on draft picks drops pretty quickly and future picks are only worth HALF as much as current years picks. Thus the #1 Pick of the 1st round is 3000, but a mid-first round pick is worth only 1000. A top of round two pick is worth 580 and then by the top of round 3 the pick is only worth 265 points. So by giving up next years 3rd round pick the Bears are only giving up half of 265, or roughly 133 points.
The Bears needed to make up a 400 point difference to swap places with the 49ers and ensure that another desperate or QB needy team like the Browns, Cardinals, Chiefs, or even Jaguars, didn't move up and take their guy and they gave up extra low value picks to do it rather than higher valued 1st or 2nd round picks.
In total they sent #67, #117, and a probable mid 3rd pick to make up that difference which amounts to... 255 + 60 + 95 which amounts to...
410 POINTS A whopping 10 points has everyone in an uproar because they don't understand how the NFL draft value system works. I hope my fellow fans come to their senses and celebrate Pace's guts to make the move and BRAINS to know that 10 points worth of non premium picks is well worth it for a Team that hasn't drafted a franchise level QB since 1982.
