People expect a bad team last year to go into luxury tax in a year they aren't expected to be a division winner.
It's idiotic to expect a quick rebuild to spend big right away. Every team that tries this fails.

Ya. If they had a core then I would get it. Buying a core never works. You spend 30 on a Ace. 20 on a 2. 15 on a closer. 30 on your stud hitter then add 2 more for 20 each.

6 players. 135 M 20 more togo and no quality youth. Ok can't bring in scrubs after spending that. Ok another 100M to make a respectable team. Now at 235 and tax threshold. Can't add with our going over...

It makes little sense to build this way.

That said. After they get Davis up with Kilian. Drop Smyly and Miley. They should have a core starting and could look to deal then.

They are pretty close to contending.
