You may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was
put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100
guns and allegedly had 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home.
The house also featured a secret escape tunnel.

By Southern California standards, someone owning 100,000 rounds is
considered "mentally unstable."

In Michigan , he'd be called "The last white guy still living in Detroit ."

In Arizona , he'd be called "an avid gun collector."

In Arkansas , he'd be called "a novice gun collector."

In Utah , he'd be called "moderately well prepared," but they'd probably
reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding
quantity of stored food."

In Kansas , he'd be "A guy down the road you would want to have for a
friend."

In Montana , he'd be called "The neighborhood 'Go-To' guy."

In Alabama , he'd be called "a likely gubernatorial candidate."

In Georgia , he'd be called "an eligible bachelor."

In North Carolina , Virginia , Mississippi , Tennessee , Kentucky and
South Carolina he would be called "a deer hunting buddy."

And in Texas he'd just be "Charlie, who's a little short on ammo."

A thousand rounds per gun sounds about right. That is pretty much my goal (pretty much there). I don't know that I'll ever have 100 guns but I can think of 20 off hand that I've love to have. Now the escape tunnel does seem a bit odd.

Nah I mean if the guy has any kind of disaster in mind, like a doomsday prepper type of deal..... then the escape tunnel makes sense.... would probably give him extra points on Doomsday Preppers.

I gotta think though, if you got 100 guns and you can use one at a time (unless you dual pistol like a bad ass) and maybe you can equip yourself with like 5-7 max if you holster a bunch of pistols and stuff, you are still leaving like 90 guns with ammo sitting somewhere for someone else to use. You better have other people in mind for some of them guns, otherwise if shit goes crazy you have just become the gun store (or ammo store if they already have guns) for the neighborhood.

If he is alone and he is some sort of prepper he should go for like 10-15 guns, max himself out and be done with it.

I didn't think about the prepper thing. I guess that would explain the tunnel.

I still don't have a problem with the 100 guns. Like I said I can think of 20 guns I'd love to have.

I can't find out anything about this guy. Looks like this story broke in 2012. A few sites said he exposed himself to a couple in Walmart. I can't confirm this however. If he did he just might be a nut.

GLENDORA - Police confiscated more than 100 shotguns, rifles and pistols during an early morning raid Friday at the home of a man who is suspected of exposing himself at Wal-Mart in Glendora.

Police brought John Steiner, 58, to a psychiatric institution for evaluation and possible treatment, Glendora Police Lt. Tim Staab said.

That decision was made after officers raided his home at 18835 E. Mauna Loa Avenue, in an unincorporated county area near Glendora at 7:30 a.m., Staab said.

The home was so cluttered with boxes and other items that it was difficult for officers to maneuver inside the house. Staab said he's never seen anything like it before.

“Every room was just stacked to the rafters with boxes,” Staab said. “There's a television show out there called 'Hoarders' that this house would certainly compete with.”

Among the items the man was hoarding was ammunition and more than 100 firearms — so many guns that police had yet to finish counting them by late Friday afternoon.

Police served the warrant after they received two reports of a man strolling around Wal-Mart and exposing his genitalia.

After reviewing store surveillance footage, police identified Steiner, Staab said.

“Clear as day you can see him ... exposing himself to numerous people,” Staab said.

I bet you can think of the same 20 guns you would not want marauding bands of Thugs to have, or maybe even some of your neighbors in a Doomsday type scenario.

That was my only point about 100 being excessive if he is some kind of prepper.... if you have alot of guns and you are alone, then sooner or later 99 other people are going to have your guns lol

Never seen the attraction in guns.

The basic attraction is this....

If this dude decides he wants to fight me:
game-of-thrones-the-mountain.jpg

The only chance I would have is with a gun or rocket launcher or some shit.

Guns are equalizers to alot of people.

I personally have never been a gun person, never owned one, but I understand the appeal to a certain degree.

I'm not sure I want anyone other than myself making that decision for me? My guns are secured. I wouldn't have 100 guns laying around. So the number itself I have no problem with. Apparently this dude IS crazy and had stuff just laying around in boxes.

Had it been a sane person that secured his weapons I'd be fine with the number.

Who knew he had 100 guns before this story broke? If I want to be a hermit and have 100 guns I don't think the govt should be able to deem that unsafe. I'm not saying this guy isn't crazy. He just might be. What I'm saying is any responsible gun owner that secures his guns should be able to have as many guns as they want.

I am not making judgement on how many guns you or anyone else owns or keeps in their home.

I am just speaking from the perspective of if he were a prepper of some sort keeping an arsenal for when shit goes bad, I do not know that having 100 guns and 100,000 rounds of ammo just for you in your house helps you and it might in fact hurt you if people start seeing you as the gun store lol.

If you got a posse who will be standing with you on Doomsday and you need guns for them, then 100 might be reasonable.

Really couldn't care less how many guns people own as long as they are not hurting people or letting their gun stock get out in to the hands of people who use them to hurt people.

I was mostly discussing this on the notion that this guy was sitting on a throne of guns for when the apocalypse hit and I imagined like 30 of his neighbors going "Have you seen all his guns? And he told me he has 100k rounds for em all..... lets just go jump him and take his guns, once we get some guns wtf is he gonna do?" lol

I did actually. I grew up in a family of very keen hunters and used rifles and shotguns from a very early age.

Then I don't know what to say. People that grow up with guns tend to have an affinity towards them. I am quite the opposite actually yet still like guns. My dad is an avid hunter and even though I have rarely ever shot guns or rifles myself I still like them.
