It's the Peyton Manning factor. He brightens up any area

No, I loved living here several years before Manning showed up. I even loved living here when cutler still wore a donkeys jersey

Poor Michigan, even medical marijuana doesn't improve their outlook.

Found it kind of interesting that most places in the U.S. that are "happy" have awesome weather. I'm in Newport Beach, CA and when people get down they always say that the weather is nice and go to the beach. All those coastal cities have awesome weather. Florida is nice as well and Hawaii...nuff said. Colorado is fun and has chill people as does the beach cities. Weather definitely makes things a little better.

I live right outside of Asheville which is ranked high...I love the small town atmosphere, the weather, and the scenery of my town of about 5000. Asheville however, is full of freaks, hippies and lesbians. I get the creeps just having to go there.

Pssssh. Asheville is awesome. But the blend of people there is really interesting. It's a combination of hippies (as you mentioned), retired millionaires, and hillbillies / rednecks.

Where you at specifically BB? I'm fairly familiar with the area.

From what I've seen, the retired millionaires live outside the city in places like Lake Toxaway, Cashiers, Brevard, Hendersonville etc. Asheville proper is pretty much low lifes... Don't mean to offend anyone, but it reminds me of the area in Chicago around Belmont and Halsted at 2AM. Tranny's, Lezz's, Piercing freaks etc.

Once outside the city, the scenery is just beautiful...Great for motorcycle touring, bicycling etc... People from all over America come here to fly fish as well

Haha, I just came back from a trip to Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway. Those are the #2-5 happiest places to live on that chart.
