Sorry we didn't know it was your birthday. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't just read it on the Questions thread. You poor thing. It must have been awful for you yesterday not getting your fair share of birthday lovin'. Hopefully, everyone will make up for it today. Since it is your birthday I will try to be nice and give you a compliment. You are so much smarter than your penis makes you sound sometimes. Happy Birthday, Hun. Hope you find a special way to celebrate.

Happy birthday, The Syphilitic Dream. I say go to your local baskin robbins and demand a free birthday ice cream cone. Don't leave till you get one.

Thank you for welcoming me into the last year of my 20's.

Soon I'll have to be all growed up. Probably not.

My last year of that "decade" just ended and it was probably one of the better years of my life.

Rome---both seasons---kicked ALL kinds of ass! Still trying to get over the fact that the bastards at HBO refused to do any more seasons and as result how they had to blaze through the events of Season Two with a historical swifteness.

I own it on blu-ray and DVD. Im just glad they ended it well and it can function as a mini-series.

I also, liked the Spartacus series on Starz, its unfortunate the actor that plays him is battling cancer, and continuation of the series is in doubt.

The only thing I dont like about Spartacus is the period inaccuracy in Roman soldier attire. Rome had it right, the legionaires of the time wore a bronze helmet and lorica hamata (chain mail). In Spartacus, (which occurs years prior to the events in Rome) the roman soldiers are often seen in Lorica Segmentata (the banded metal strips, that people often associate with roman soldiers) which wasnt invented yet, and really was not common legionairy attire until the late 1st/2nd century.

/nerdery off. You read your narrative books, i read history books, I own like 10 books on roman history alone.

I'm watching the Spartacus show now on netflix. It's not bad I'm curious to see how close it will hold to the actual events of the rebellion. I'm glad they didn't do the stupid thumbs up thumbs down thing like they did on Gladiator. Mainly because thumbs down really meant live and thumbs up meant die.

It's weird, I feel like 31 is going to suck a whole lot worse than 30, I think that 30 was almost better than 29. Maybe it's just a numbers thing and I like them even.

Well you dont actually get to see the "rebellion" that was supposed to be season 2. Like I said the actor has cancer, and season 2 is in doubt.

Season 1 just covers spartacus's time as a gladiator. Of course there is plenty of dramatic license like with Rome. But some of the players are already there as far as commanders of the forces brought to defeat the rebellion like Glaber, and Marcus Licinius Crassus is mentioned, I dont think they mention Gnaeus Pompeii even though hes credited for defeating spartacus, Crassus did all the foot work.

If you head to the Tilted Kilt tonight for the game, I will buy you a birthday beer. And Ymono37 will give you a special mouth hug.

So all y'all that didn't show up... Bobby Hull was at the table right next to us. You missed that.

Although I wouldn't have pegged him as a red wine drinker.

Doesn't red wine make a person angry?

Well he seemed pretty happy. Although maybe that's why he left after the 2nd period... to go beat up hookers in the parking lot.
