He was one of the main catalysts that got ncaa players paid. I like his next gift to ncaa before jumping ship and makes sense for the kids that others are getting rich off of

Now the blue bloods have to compete with everybody in terms of the NILs and cash. It's out in the open. NCAA can't do shit to non blue bloods offering money to players because that's how the blue bloods stayed in power.

Paying under the table is how Saban won lots of NCAA championships. Love it. Tear down the NCAA. Its useless now.

How long until the NFL makes their own farm system like the MLB/NBA?

Didnt they try that with NFL Europe back when I was a kid?

Lotta these guys dont even have any interest in an education.

The NCAA's days are numbered anyway, as far as football is concerned. Once the ACC is absorbed by the Big Ten and SEC, those conferences can bypass the NCAA and run something like the NFL.

Hope not. I enjoy college football. A farm system or a diluted college game would suck.

The NFL already has a farm system that it doesn't have to pay for, and college football is far too culturally embedded to ever cede anything even of the NFL wanted that. I think the NFL is really only interested in expanding its fan base and TV revenue, especially internationally.

Err, so having a farm system wouldnt increase fan base and TV revenue?!?!?

NBA just did that with the g league, seems to be working for them.

Always found college football dumb nowadays since a lot of the top programs the players dont give two shits about their education.

The G League doesn't do shit. You know many people who go to G League games or even watch them on TV? It's not even profitable according to most sources.

You may think college football is dumb but there are millions and millions of people who prefer it to the NFL and millions and millions more who love it just as much. Now that players can get openly paid, there is no room for the NFL, unless they figured out a way to somehow co=sponsor college football. But there's no way they're going to compete with it, that would be USFL-esque.

Instead of being student athletes. Just be athletes and the universities sponsored team. This charade should be over. . basket weaving, leisure studies, etc bogus programs.

Also it's a fucking shame where locker rooms are state of the art, but classrooms have leaking roofs and outdated. This is fucking madness. Only in the good old USA.

Why would players bypass millions in NIL money, huge crowds with adoring fans, "willing" coeds, and a free education and lifetime job connections to play in front of 2000 people for the Dayton Bombers at barely above minimum wage?

What the NFL really should do is recruit the schools that arent part of the mega conferences to serve as their minor leagues. They already have the infrastructure but are lacking a huge TV deal which being affliliated with the NFL can provide.

Then imagine the bonanza that would come when the NCAA college playoff champion plays the champion of the NFL University League.

I’m trying to find fault with this and I can’t.

We have to define who the blue bloods of college football are.

Hey now! That’s how Aaron Rodgers got his advanced microbiology and infection disease vector education as well as forensic pedophilia detective elucidation! All through his year at Cal!

In recent years
Tier 1
Alabama
Georgia
OSU
Michigan
Clemson
ND

Tier 2
Texas
USC
Oregon
Florida
FSU
Oklahoma
LSU
Washington
Penn St.

That's what I consider the blue bloods right now. I am most likely wrong though.

This isn't your fault, as I was on my fourth Zombie Dust when I asked the question so I really wrote that wrong. I meant to ask what places a school in the blue blood category. If we go by titles won (Side note: UCONN in Men's Basketball hitting their 5th title puts them in the UCLA/Kentucky/Kansas/Duke/UNC category, but they've only won those five since 1999 - which in itself is an amazing accomplishment - so I think you can make a "blue blood" argument.) then it would go:
1. Yale
2. Alabama
3. Princeton
4. Notre Dame
5. Michigan
5. USC
7. Harvard
7. Ohio State
9. Oklahoma
10. Minnesota

That's the top 10 list in titles won. Take off the Ivy Leagues, and probably Minnesota and I think that's a good starting point. I think you're right in adding in George and Clemson.
