the fact that you could put together a serviceable team that wouldn't be in the cellar with just the guys we've lost in the last two years?

Brouwer, Burrish, Byflugien,
Havlat, Madden, Versteeg,
Ladd, Fraser, Kopecky,
Eager, Dowell, Skille

and on D you'd have

Wizzer, Barker
Campbell, Sopel
Boynton, Cullimore

With Niemi in the pipes... Good grief that's a lot of players and a pretty decent roster... It's amazing we took Vancouver to the brink (though right to the end I thought we could win it all - ahahaha).

Looking back at that I'd be crazy not to have Havlat on the first line.

I'd always had a small hope he'd be back in Chicago.

He's got the C in Winnipeg and just signed a 5-year extension. I've given up.

it is well deserved.

out of all of those guys...i miss him the most. versteeg, buff are ehhh.

I think you're wayyy overrating this roster. :D It's basement material.

^ and that is being polite about it.

Its also expensive basement material at that....

What, no Huet, Pahlsson, Potulny, Pisani, Johnson, or Reasoner?! I'm outraged!!! As if that would make any difference... :D

I'm not bored enough to look -but wonder what that team's cap hit is -- I am going to think it is fairly nasty... Barker getting over 3 mil for his 5 points last season,

I'm ok with what we got at the moment, thx. :)

That would be a pretty shitty team, but I definitely see what you're saying in that so many truly DECENT and memorable guys have left in the past few off seasons.

The best thing going forward is that we'll always remember those guys and they give us all reasons to pay extra attention to their various new homes. Hell, I'll still watch a Carolina game just to see Ruutu on the ice again.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Arizona Wildcats
Burish as a 1st line center would be a bad move, but I can kinda see where you were going with this thread...lol

You know what I miss about Ladd? The dude came to PLAY on every single shift. He mucked it up in the corners, he camped well in front of the net, he hustled to every loose puck, he hit when it was called for, and he never half-assed anything. I love that kind of guy.

It takes no talent to hustle...

Add to the fact that Andrew Ladd actually did have talent, and that is why he is so missed. Out of the people culled the last offseason, he is also the person I missed the most. That said I like getting to watch a team that has made the playoffs 3 years in a row and has a championship more than any one particular player.
