The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired David Toews, brother of Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, from the New York Islanders in exchange for future considerations.

David Toews, 21, played for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings last season, scoring 20 goals with 28 assists. He will be placed on the Blackhawks' roster for the 2011 Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie Tournament this weekend in Oshawa, Ontario.

Toews was a third-round draft pick (66th overall) of the Islanders in the 2008 NHL entry draft after playing two seasons at the University of North Dakota, He is a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I laughed at the title thinking it was some kind of Mock HF50 post, till I realized what it meant. I don't find this interesting at all, it's obviously a ploy for setting up the next round of contract negotiations. haha

What better way to get the most out of Johnathon than to hold his brother hostage?

Do not laugh. This and HF50 are serious....and interesting.

And who's this "Johnathon" - another brother?

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Now we just need to get Marcel Hossa out of the KHL.

Or if we want to confuse the smeg out of Pat and Eddie...try to get Keith Seabrook

I like it. One Toews is good, two must be better.

I approve.

If both Hayes brothers and the younger Toews make the roster at some point, it's going to get confusing for Pat and Eddie. We can have two seperate "Hey Toews" lines

I like the move! I am sure if he makes the roster at some point that his big brother will inspire him to play to his best abilities!

You sure can't argue with the DNA!! Heredity is a wonderful thing, as long as you aren't a Sedin! (They shouldn't be allowed to reproduce!)

And I absolutely love the idea of confusing the hell out of Pat and Ediie!! Too funny!

Now we just need Marcel Hossa and Keith Seabrook (I wonder if Uncle Dale would send him over to Chicago?)and Evander Kane!

Add Ruutu, Tootoo and Cheechoo and I think Pat and Eddie might retire early!!

Can u imagine this?

Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews/Marcel Hossa

Evander Kane/David Toews/Marian Hossa

Defense of Keith, Seabrook, and Keith Seabrook

4th line of Tuomo Ruutu, Jordan Tootoo, and Jonathan Cheechoo

Too Funny!!!

That is fucking hilarious, saying them all outloud in my head is tangling me up a bet even...

To your heredity issue in the previous post, I hadn't thought of it but one of the big plus of JT over the years is getting to know a little bit more about his parents and upbringing. Unless they wasted it all on him, it's great to know the kind of character and backing the younger Toews had growing up. Shouldn't have to worry about any character issues with him whether he has the same talent or not, if he's anything like his brother off the ice, and leadership wise he's a great addition.

Having said that I like to think I'm nothing like any of my brothers.

Meh, saw David play his two years here at North Dakota. Had a lot of injuries during his time at UND and as a result didn't get a whole lot of ice time. His hockey knowledge seems pretty good, not quite where Jonathan's is but few players are. David could be a decent 3rd or 4th line player someday but he still has a long way to go. Needs to get a lot stronger too, didn't see him at all last year when he played in the WHL, but while he was at UND he got outmuscled in front of the net and along the boards on a pretty regular basis. Give him 2-3 years in the AHL he could be a nice depth forward.

They were talking about it last year. David was at quite a few of our last games. Seems like a good kid. Was funny watching him walk around the UC and no one having a clue who he was. Do you remember him walking up to us at one of those last games when we were all talking out side 119?

Yea we watched him at the Tourney at the Sears Center. David had the same injury Pat did last year with his ankle. Then jumped to the Jr's last year. Not sure the potential, and most certainly not Jonathan, but who knows what he grows into.

Hope the kid makes it, I don't know too much about him, and I doubt he will be anywhere near as good as Johnny... but if he has the same work ethic and leadership skills, anything else is just gravy.
