Not sure if I would be on board for that.

Who would play defense if Hammer is gone? Already have a problem finding 6 defensemen that can actually play.

Saad is such a good propsect. Don't know if I want him gone either.

Maybe I just don't like change, but I don't like this. I'd love Staal, but I don't know...

That proposal must be a prelude to Suter coming to town.

That would be a lot for Staal and I don't know if the Pens want to take on that much money. The only way that deal makes sense for the Blackhawks, and you mention it further down this page, is if Suter is for sure going to sign.

I am a big fan of Staal...I actually wanted him over Toews when the two were drafted.

I think Kruger could replace Bolland well enough, and I am not one of the people who think that Bolland still has untapped offensive potential...I think he has pretty much reached that potential. Staal is a very solid second line center and he was able to show that over the last two years with the Crosby injuries.

Agreed on it being a lot for staal.

I'd love to get Staal because that's exactly what the Hawks need, but losing too much to get that just puts the Hawks in the same situation where they need to feel a hole.

Bingo. Martin either has to be a part of that deal (puke) or be dealt or moved elsewhere.

If the Hawks could somehow bring in Suter AND Staal this off season, I think we'd all have to get off Stan's back for a little while.

ok, enough fantasy time for now

If Bolland brings Staal, I can't complain. But that Bolly/Hjalmarsson/Saad package for Staal would be too much, imo. But getting a guy like Staal in a trade isn't going to be easy. Maybe the Pens will think they can do something with Frolik?

If a prospect goes, it'd make sense to trade away another center like McNeill instead of Saad.

Still consider myself opposed to the idea of trading Bolland to begin with, though.

Some of you may have faith in Kruger stepping into a 3C role next year. I do not.

This feels like the Nick Leddy situation all over again--counting on a young player to step into a role he's not quite ready for.

Just my opinion.

As an aside -the Leddy thing might be more to do with defensemen coming into maturation a little later in the careers. It used to be that in general defensemen didn't 'get it' until about 28 or 29.

He handled 2nd line decently...

If the Blackhawks get 2 out of the 3 (Parise, Staal, Suter) this offseason that would be perfect.

Too bad that will never happen.

What about trading Kruger?

I know the salary hit is different. But he could have some value, too.

value isnt that high. sure he could be in a package for a legit offensive player but he isnt going to net you shit,. Bollands salary would be nice to move.
