Marc Bergevin has been promoted to Assistant General Manager of the Chicago Blackhawks, the team announced Wednesday.

Norm Maciver will now be the Director of Player Personnel, Kyle Davidson was promoted to Hockey Administration Coordinator and Senior Advisor to Hockey Operations Scotty Bowman was given a contract extension.
1. Scotty Bowman was given a 2 year extension:

Bowman has been a member of 12 Stanley Cup winning teams since 1973, which includes an NHL record nine as a head coach. His most recent championship came in 2010 when the Blackhawks captured the organization's first Cup since 1961. The Montreal native is also the NHL's all-time leader with 1,224 regular-season wins and 223 postseason victories. Bowman, who joined the Blackhawks in 2008, has held a position in professional hockey since 1967.

2. Bergevin promoted to Assistant GM
Bergevin is entering his seventh season as a member of Blackhawks. The Montreal native spent the last two seasons as Chicago's Director of Player Personnel. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach on Joel Quenneville's staff during the 2008-09 campaign and spent three years on the Blackhawks scouting staff including as Director of Pro Scouting during the 2007-08 season.

Bergevin was originally drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round (No. 58) of the 1983 Entry Draft. In his 20-year NHL career, the defenseman recorded 181 points (36 goals, 145 assists) in 1,191 games. Bergevin also skated in 80 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests with five different teams, recording 3 goals, 9 points and 52 penalty minutes.

3. Maciver promoted to Director of Player Personnel
Maciver just finished his fourth season with the Blackhawks, and third as the team's Director of Player Development. Prior to joining the organization, he was an assistant coach with the Boston Bruins (2003-06) and the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons (2000-03).

Maciver was a two-time All American at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and a finalist for the Hobey Baker award. He also had a 12-year NHL career where the defenseman accumulated 55 goals and 285 points in 500 regular-season games. He also posted 14 points (3G, 11A) and a plus-10 rating in 56 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

I am all for having Stan around, I do believe we got a cup right? the salary cap makes it pretty tough to have the same team win it every year, and I think we are still set up with a bright future. no point in even having this conversation... congrats to the guys and their promotions tho

It was the Bowman's who pulled the Hossa over Havlat transition. It's unsure who's ideas were most considered with the Kopecky and Madden signings but its unlikely to have been without serious Bowman input. It's true apart from that the only factor he officially made was trading Cam Barker off the team and signing Nick Boyton.

Even with those few successful moves along with getting Leddy for that trade, they are not gonna make any shifts away from empowering Stan.
