A second line center is sure to be high on general manager Stan Bowman’s priority list, but keeping Patrick Sharp, Chris Campoli and Michael Frolik, as well as adding a physical defenseman are also probably on that list.

Then what is the point of keeping Campoli?

Gee I could have written that.

Come to think of it - I am pretty sure I did.

You know like the Cubs and White Sox - your depth chart dictates who gets to play on the second line -Dew, while I agree with you in principle, as a team it still has to put on the ice what it has.

Ok, I ought to elaborate a little - in that, it gets old for these "professional writers" to basically - be appearing that they get their ideas from surfing the internet without much actual independent thought going in to it.

-Of course sometimes you get guys (professional writers again) going off the rails, like some guy whining in the Trib the past day or so- about how the Hawks won't be able to compete with the Cannots (in the same article he was moaning about the Bulls not being able to compete with the Heat). Well for all I know, the Bulls thing may be true -dunno, don't follow the NBA much at all - but it was completely silly to write off the 2011-12 Hawks...

Finding no satisfaction in Boston Bruins or Dallas Mavericks winning - chicagotribune.com

Yeah well, these kind of uninformed "opinions" are a dime a dozen (and you overpaid -if you paid that much).

Ok, but in this case- yes, I am all for a 2nd line centre upgrade... and we got guys we can deal. Hjalmarsson, Stalberg/Bickell/pretty much any other spare 3rd or 4th liner ... or combination thereof, plus throw in Adam Beach if you want, as I doubt there is going to be a slot for him anytime soon, and there might be someone out there willing to bite on that - it ought to clear out enough salary without affecting the depth chart ...

Personally I think that the 2011-12 Hawks are going to be night and day from this seasons -which, mind you -if the cap bonus hit didn't compell them to play Boynton and Cullimore for about half the season -they would have had a better playoff seed than 8th.

Oh well, I suppose it is lovely being a fair-weather "fan"/ bandwagoner/ writer ... :p

Spare some of us, please.

^ because he's not. actually bolland thrives on being in that checking line. i am glad that hawks know what they need. that 2nd center is key.

exactly...he is a perfect 3rd line center who we play against teams top lines....like the nucks and sedins
