RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: Michael Handzus has agreed to terms on one year deal with CHI, paperwork to be completed.

I am good with this. Cap hit is likely low. Good veteran presence that played well for the team last season.

Good depth. He's a bit slow, but he's a smart player, good locker room guy from all I've seen/read.

Agreed. Plus he is one gutty son of a *****....which probably played into this contract. I like the signing. Remember, depth at center is not exactly the Hawks strong suit at this point in time. Bolland is gone and there's no guarantee that Pirri is gonna fill a spot. You also can't have too many good faceoff men, either.

Nice to have Zus around again but I sorta hope that a few of the Hawks younger centers (Pirri, Kruger, maybe even Danault) can play well enough that Zus finds himself in the press box more often than not.

The guy is washed up & played severely over his head in the playoffs.

So because YOU think he's washed up, he shouldn't be offered an affordable contract? What if he isn't? What if the kids aren't ready? What if there are injuries at a position that they are already short? Worst case scenario....he sits in the press box like Dmelt says....best case, he fills in and helps out at a reasonable cost.

sometimes I think we could trade Kruger for Crosby, and people would ***** about losing Kruger's upside...

The real question that should be answered....

Why didn't he go to LA? :slap:

If he sniffs the 2nd line, Q deserves to be kicked in the grapes.

He replaces Mayers in the press box, whatever then.

Because Dave Strader says the Kings are so good that they don't need him. :gary:

Why? I don't get that or several mentalities on this move. Handzeus being resigned isn't a valid reason to jump to, Zeus on 2nd line will be a mainstay.

Having Zeus able to play most his games which ought not be all on the 4th line, take face offs over Kruger and add to the PK is a plus over what others can offer.

I guess once people are set they won't change, thought winning again would change but done people want to stay dense. Yes he looked done as one of the most injured players and still produced. He hasn't looked Jammer level of done.

I can see him playing 4C, which is a perfect spot for him. He will also be available to fill in a hole when needed. I also think that having extra forwards is not a bad idea going into next season since I do not think Hossa will be ready to play straight out of the box. Worse thing that happens is that he provides Stan someone to trade at the deadline if need be.

Well said. Plenty of people groaned at the trade deadline and he ended up playing pretty solid for the Blackhawks. Faceoffs, PK, and a guy that can play 4th line or spot on 2nd line if needed...for $1mil? Makes a whole lot of sense in the cap era. A nice re-signing.
