So I have been a Hawks fan since the early nineties (band wagon guy when they made their last Stanley Cup run) and have hung on throughout the "dark" years here on the West side. During lets say the 2000-2005 seasons (including the lockout year) I attended nearly 30 some odd games here and there, never spending more than $45 on a ticket.

As I was starting my family through the 2006-07 seasons I was only able to attend a game, while attempting to watch away games as I could. Through a major promotion at work, and some wise saving the wife and I were seriously talking about getting 300 level season tickets for around $650 bucks a seat. This was a fantastic price and knowing that Toews and Kane were on the way to stardom I thought that this could be a chance to see greatness in the making.

When we contacted the ticket sales person for the season tickets we were going to get a better price on the seats if we were able to get another couple to come in and we buy 4 seats together (if I remember correctly it was like $585 per seat at that point). So as w waited on that other couple the opportunity had passed us up for that season and we decided to just go ahead and put our deposit ($100) towards next seasons seats.

So we waited and it turns out the Hawks make their crazy run last season only to fall to Detroit in the Western Conference Finals. The same seats that we were looking at now had a price of $1275 per seat with no chance of additional discounts for the next seat, and Mr. Ticket Sales person gave us a whole 2 hr window to decide (the year before we had nearly 2 weeks).

Long story short, I probably couldn't have afforded the seats this year anyways with the increase, but man oh man it would have been nice to be able to enjoy these past couple seasons in the Madhouse. Just another example of when opportunity knocks, don't ask anyone, just jump into it and ask questions later, you just might be apart of history.

I'm still far too much in debt to consider getting season tickets to anyone, but the rising cost of tickets has been a problem for years and it's certainly not getting any better.

The Hawks used to be the most affordable ticket in town, but that's because no one went to the games. Same with the White Sox pre 2005.

It's unfortunate that the casual fans such as yourself and many others on this board probably can't afford to get season tickets anymore and often have trouble getting tickets for one game.

But I'll take that over mediocre seasons any day.

I certainly will take Lord Stanley over not being able to afford 300 Level season tickets. My wife and I have made it out to a playoff game each of the last two seasons so we have been able to share in the joy of the playoffs the past few years. It is a tad funny however that my tickets this season (300 level goal end seats) cost me $95 bucks a seat, which is about 1/6th of the cost of what those seats would of cost me.

Hopefully I can gain another promotion or run into an opportunity which allows me to afford seats in the near future, however I'm sure I'll need to get on a waiting list.

I may start selling drugs on street corners to afford tickets.

No worries, I will sputter out a brain-fart occasionally.

I hope we can get an update later on this offseason to get a taste of what these same tickets are going for next year. I imagine a continued increase is in order even though the cap increased only by 2mil. I obviously would have less of a problem with it if they AHL'd Huey.

Owners will be owners.

Yep .. I'm banking on trying to land some tickets on Stubhub in the first few months of the season, when people will hopefully be a bit distracted from the Hawks by the (hopefully) success of the Bears early on. But I'm not holding my breath.

Personally, I would rather enjoy a game from home than fight traffic, find parking, pay $6 a beer, etc.

I like to go see my favorite teams about 5 times a year, but season tickets would just be a burden.

Agreed. I do like the partial season ticket plans that some teams have developed.
