Chicago Blackhawks to stay in hotel before Game 3 vs. San Jose Sharks - ESPN Chicago

CHICAGO -- After Friday's morning skate, the Chicago Blackhawks will check into a hotel before Game 3 of the Western Conference finals later that night against the San Jose Sharks.

It's an attempt to bring the Blackhawks' road mentality back home with them. Chicago has won seven straight road playoff games, tying an NHL record. Meanwhile, the Hawks have struggled at the United Center, going 3-3 in the postseason.

The Blackhawks have attributed their success away from home to bonding, hanging out together off the ice, going to dinner, playing video games and then taking a simplified approach once they hit the rink.

During the regular season, they had a franchise-record 23 wins on the road, and their 29 home victories were one shy of a club record.

Veteran Hawks center John Madden said it's a tactic the New Jersey Devils employed when he played with them from 1998-2009.

Chicago leads the series 2-0.

I am a big fan of teams not shaking things up when they have something good going. Thoughts?

Why is it stupid? Here is what Patrick Kane had to say about the road games.

"The way we've been playing on the road, it just seems like everything has gone right for us," said forward Patrick Kane, who had two assists. "Sometimes you get on the road, it's just a simpler attitude. We've had a lot of fun with bonding in the hotel and different things. Sometimes you do that, it's almost like you're clicking before you're even on the ice."

I have no issues with them trying to keep the bond together by staying in a hotel.

Kinda cool idea, hopefully they have some fun, but take it to the Sharks on the ice when it comes time.

I say why not. I mean, obviously this has been working for them so far, and whatever they've been doing at home isn't always working. Mario Kart ftw, I guess, literally.
And yes, please no cuteness.
