Yes. I thoroughly enjoyed this season.

HBO hasn't renewed it yet for season 3, and there's quite the fear they will not. Apparently the show hasn't done well in the ratings department.

Yes but HBO isn't as concerned with ratings as they are # of subscribers. I think it has more to do with what they have in development and if they can fill their schedule with something they think would get more subscribers. HBO has lost a lot of high quality tv shows recently. I think it gets renewed.

Anyways, that episode where Kevin was a hit man, was that not one of the single greatest episodes in TV history?

International Assassin... Certainly one of the best I've seen in some time. Been awhile since I've had a show that had me on the edge of my seat the entire episode.

I hope HBO does. I do feel like HBO is lacking in shows at the moment.

I'm behind and am actually watching the assassin episode now (half last night and the rest now). The show drags at times so for me it hasn't been the easiest to follow.

I didn't have that issue with The Leftovers... True Detective.. absolutely. I gave up on that show since I couldn't figure out wtf was even going on.

2nd season of TD was lame, especially after how good the 1st was. Hopefully there's a season 3 of Leftovers.

I enjoy Leftovers, but I do think Season 1 >>>> Season 2

I felt a bit meh on the finale of Season 2 as compared to Season 1... it was good, but it didn't hit me as hard.

Also Season 1 managed to have these awesome ups and downs I didn't get in Season 2.

The episode in Season 1 where the GR member is killed and Matt goes to try to be nice and help the GR members grieve.... and Lorie goes outside and blows her whistle in his face.... I don't feel like Season 2 had as powerful of moments like that one.

Question for everyone.... Kevin.... was he alive at the end of the finale or no? Seemed odd.... he was walking around bleeding profusely...

I feel like Leftovers is headed for a Lost "Purgatory" explanation.

See I never watched Lost, so I don't quite understand all the comparisons to it, other than I know its by the same guy.

I felt the finale to Season 1 was a lot better than Season 2. I think overall Season 2 was amazing though.

As for your question.. its plausible.. He should be dead, but he's also come back from the dead... unless he was always dead... lol who knows with this show.

I love the show and accepted early on that there will be things that I don't understand, but that's okay because it's so good.

I didn't want to start a thread about it, so this seems like a good place to bring it up. Fargo. That show is outstanding. Season2 > season1 imho.

That Mary is better certainly has the Lost island feel to it, like Locke walking and Rose being cancer free. I honestly don't think they'll do a purgatory thing though, because I don't think they seem really interested in giving a real explanation for the Departed. I've always viewed it as the show looking at relationships after a tragic event.

As for Kevin, and that Lost feel. The one thing I thought of when he went back to the hotel and returned was him taking the place of Virgil, who originally helped him get rid of Patty. So the quick thought in my head after watching it was Kevin would be that guy now. I knew I saw it somewhere, and now reading you talk of Lost reminds me of where I got that from.

I'm of the opinion that Kevin is alive, but who the heck knows? He went through that hotel thing again but was definitely bleeding enough to be dead. But if Kevin dies, where does the next season go? Imo Kevin has to be alive to keep things moving. He's the pivot point for the show.

Kevin is alive, IMO.

As for Fargo S1 vs. S2, they're both fucking awesome. But I put S1 slightly above because of Freeman and Billy Bob's individual acting. While the acting has been fine this year, it hasn't measured up to those guys, especially Billy Bob. I fucking loved that guy on Fargo in S1.

In a global cataclysm, "The Sudden Departure," 140 million people disappeared without a trace. Three years later, residents of Mapleton, N.Y., try to maintain equilibrium when the notion of "normal" no longer applies. Intense grief has divided families and turned faith to cynicism, paranoia and madness, leading some of the traumatized to join the Guilty Remnant, a cultlike group. Kevin Garvey, a beleaguered police chief, must keep peace between townspeople and the cult, a task made tougher with concern about his kids. His daughter alternates between apathy and rebellion, and his wayward son befriends a charismatic prophet. "The Leftovers" is based on the best-seller by Tom Perrotta, who is one of the series' executive producers.

I derped and didn't see the Fargo thread.

On the Leftovers, I love that show. I still have no idea what's going on, alive, dead, I don't care it's fucking great. Glad to hear about season three!

No problemo. I just bumped it because it got buried when Rush created this Frankenforum
