Are you suggesting he got off easy?

Let's see felony gun charges that will undoubtedly result in jail time, his entire image ruined which will result in sponsorship losses, & $7.4mill in lost salary. Yea he got off pretty easy I'd say.

Javaris Crittenton is the one that's really going to feel the hurt from all this. He's done in the NBA now. Someone will bite on Arenas for a few million a year, so Arenas doesn't have to worry too much if his contract gets voided. Yeah, it will suck for him to lose all that money, but he will still be able to find a job in the NBA, and he has made a lot more money than Crittenton, so even with reckless spending, I'm sure it's not all blown yet.

Yeah...I am suggesting that...and under the circumstances so would he. If I did what he did with his record...I would have gotten 2 or 3 years minimum...he got off easy...

Its too early to tell how easy he got off. We don't know his sentence or if his contract will be voided. Are you telling me if he gets 6 months and loses 80 million dollars that he will still have gotten off easy?

Gotta agree here. Way too early to tell.

I disagree, I think he should have gotten 20-30 games max. I think it is being blown out proportion and Gilbert is a dumbass. I think if he handled it the right way, it wouldn't have gotten so far. He isn't even appealing and supposedly wants to walk away from his deal.

I fully expected him to be suspended the remainder of the season. His pre-game antics before he was suspended made that abundantly clear. I'd dare say Arenas has gotten off easy though. The guy is gonna go to jail & he's losing 10's of millions over this in salary & endorsements. So his jail sentence is greatly reduced, but his financial situation makes up more than enough for that.

I still don't see his contract be voided. The Wiz will come out looking bad if they do. How do you think FA's will feel knowning that the Wiz will turn on them at the drop of a hat? Even if it's a clause in every player's contract, the fact that the Wiz have completely turned their back on the face of their franchise for the past 6 years over a stupid mistake doesn't look very good at all, felony charge or no.

Well thats what I mean. He's a dumbass. If he would have had an agent and good pr person, he wouldn't have released his admission or had the gun slingler, he'd probably still be playing today. He took a bad situation and made it much worse.

Arenas will be back, I mean Rodman and Sprewell kept getting contracts, you've got to kill someone to be blacklisted in the NBA.

That is the thing...he doesn't need to be the face of the franchise anymore...they need a new face! He has given them a chance to start over...their GM said today he hasn't ruled it out. I don't blame him. FA's will go where the damn money is! The argument can be made that Arenas turned his back on the franchise...if other NBA players don't understand...oh well, build through the draft...FA's will come around eventually.

Fa's aren't coming to Washington. People will go to NJ before them. There aren't that many fas and if they move, they aren't going to go to that franchise. If they end up with someone they will have to overpay and just recreate the whole cycle again.

If they don't come to Washington...it won't be because of Arenas...that is all I am saying...if it is not a destination for people...then its just not a destination...they won't have to overpay more than anyone else...what they can do is trade everybody for young players/draft picks and take advantage of what should be a very good draft this year. At least they will be able to build towards something...

I think Gil would have a very small impact in people not going to Washington so I agree. Rebuilding is nice but the players union is going to fight like hell to keep his contract, it sets a precedent they aren't interested in setting. If anything, a buyout is most likely if they want to get rid of them of him.
