I saw this on the news tonight and just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention that there are positive events out there that offer healing and comfort to people who have lost someone dear to them through war or other tragic events. I know most of you don't live in this area and probably are unable to attend, but may want to check to see if something similar exists where you live.

All Era Veterans Healing Field Of The Quad Cities History

August 27-29, 2010

Memorial Park Cemetery / Veterans Memorial

Davenport, IA

Opening Ceremonies - 7 PM August 27th

Free Concert - Monica Harvey/Veterans Music Ministry - 1-2:30 PM August 28th

Closing Ceremonies - 4 PM August 29th

Open 24 Hours A Day

This memorial event has been presented since 2004.

A few adjustments have been made through the years with the cooperation of our Fallen Heroes families, comrades and friends.

The brave men and women of our Armed Forces will again be honored during the ‘All Era Veterans Healing Field Of The Quad Cities’.

Over 100 flags, which once draped the caskets of our Fallen Heroes, will be displayed with the names of men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Volunteers will be present to assist in locating the names of these Fallen Heroes.

Along with their names there will be flags paying respects for those who fought in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and other conflicts.

In years past we have also had banners with the names of those who died on September 11, 2001 in remembrance as well.

Along with the flags, we also have representation of each branch of Service with five Field Crosses for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.

We have also had the cooperation of several organizations to place the ‘Lest They Be Forgotten’ flag into the Field. This flag was designed by Gregg Garvey in memory of his son who is one of our Fallen Heroes.

Many Veterans / Military / Police / Fire organizations continue to participate in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Runges Funeral Home/Crematory and Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery have been tremendous assets to this event. Without their support, the ‘All Era Veterans Healing Field Of The Quad Cities’ memorial event would not be possible.

This 3 day event is open 24 hours a day to accommodate all of our guests.

May God bless and protect all the men and women fighting to defend and protect our freedoms today and always and may God Bless The United States Of America!!

Thank you.

That is a very nice looking event. It is nice to see that kind of memorial to honor those who died in war. I know here in Montana they just flew back the body of a soldier who died in Vietnam 40 years ago to be buried. It was a very moving image to see.
