The Miami Heat have discussed a deal with the Dallas Mavericks to acquire big man Brendan Haywood, the Miami Herald reported, citing a player and a separate agent who have been directly involved in those discussions.

Miami would part with Heat free agent center Jermaine O'Neal or Michael Beasley — or both. The Heat has met with Mavericks free agent center Haywood already. It also has talked with the Utah Jazz and power forward Carlos Boozer.

It's possible the Heat would also seek a backup point guard from Dallas, with Rodrigue Beaubois and J.J. Barea both playing behind Jason Kidd.

Any potential sign-and-trade with Utah would certainly center on a O'Neal-for-Boozer swap, with free agent Jazz swingman Kyle Korver also a possible Heat target.

Beasley has been erratic in his two years with the Heat. But he was the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2008 and is only 21. He averaged 14.8 points and 6.4 rebounds last season, and it would seem logical that his numbers are only going to get better.

O'Neal, who is a free agent and could be a part of a sign-and-trade, once averaged 24 points per game, but his scoring dipped to about 14 last season as he's struggled with injuries in

Someone posted this yesterday and i dont see either deals working out but it doesnt exactly say how it would work.

Also the Mavs wont trade Beaubo. They think he's the future at PG.

Miami really put themselves in a bad situation. They basically destroy their team by getting rid of everybody, Wade might not stay around because no one is there, nobody wants Beasley and Chalmers, the Bulls and even the Nets look more promising and all the talk about buddies Wade and Bosh might be squashed if Bosh does take the deal in Cleveland. If he does Wade will fly to Chicago as quick as possible, but we need to make a run at Boozer and forget Bosh right now.

I dont think Boozer would make it any simpler.

I think Boozer in Chicago is more likely to bring Wade to Chicago rather than Boozer in Miami keeping Wade in Miami. Does Wade have the patience for them to build a complete team?

i think you just added on to what i said

i meant if Boozer went to NJN or Chi or somewhere else as well as bosh,

wade is screwed in miami and he would go to Chicago

ESPECIALLY if Boozer goes to Chicago or Bosh(even tho at this point imo this is unlikely)

I want Bosh in HOU if he doesnt come to CHI. I dont like him with Wade or LeBron. They would make deadly combos. If he does go to HOU, sign Boozer and let Wade and Bron fight it out to Join us.

How does that helo our chances? At this point, thats a perfect pickup for them to put next to Bosh.

If Heywood is there, IDK if Bosh goes there.
