sorry for posting in Bulls/Bears/Hawks and never contributing here.
This has been a depressing team since Ken Williams got extremely lucky to have a pitching staff go historic and put it all together at the perfect time. That success which I believe had very little to do with him really went to his head and he immediately tinkered us out of contention.
Its been painful ever since, though Konerko gave us some thrills, and Ozzie was hilariously politically incorrect at all times, the whole Dunn situation has left me just not thinking about them until Williams is gone and we have some semblance of a plan centered around pitching again.
Who thought bringing in a .230 hitter with record setting strikeouts for Yankee 1st baseman money could go wrong?
We sit on our asses every free agency, afraid to spend, dealing pitchers before they bear fruit, and toying around with speedy outfielders that can't make contact and then Adam Dunn and the worst contract ever is available and we jump on that?
He meshes with small ball how? I can feel my blood raging just bringing up this stuff....but how does Dunn fit with the rest of this team? we don't have high on base percentage guys, we just have base stealers. Dunn neutralized Konerko when he still had something left.
We are also a franchise that thinks #2 starters are #1's, and #6 starters and #3's.
John Danks has the straightest god damn change up I have ever seen in my life, when Buerle was on staff I think he infused a little voodoo to that thing to get by hitters, but Danks was a poor man's Buerle at his best, now he is done but once again we will roll him out as #3.
I am sure I am behind on the times, and I am sorry to make my first post really depressing,
anyone care to brighten me up by filling me in where I am lost? Do we have some young pitchers in the wings or did we trade them to Tampa for garbage?
