Help with Unreal Engine/software

I need help for a good friend/co-worker of mine. He's hoping to get into graphic design/gaming.

He just found out that for his interview on Monday he needs to submit a project ahead of time.

He does not know the product. Can anyone recommend tutorials online, websites, blogs, etc that I can pass along to him?

I don't know if this helps. But the best "home brew" gurus are going to be found on modder sites for games on the engine. I'm so out of touch with most FPS games, that I couldn't tell you where the action is at.
