Times are tough, America, but you can take solace that your children are not enrolled in the hellhole that must be Benjamin Cosor Elementary School, where no fewer than six teachers have hired attorneys and refused to cooperate in a police investigation surrounding the discovery — twice in three months — of heroin and drug paraphernalia in a faculty bathroom.

Teachers have complained that investigators have visited Cosor Elementary during school hours, with kids around. Teachers are particularly bothered that students have seen police attempt to interview faculty members.

Local attorney Jared Hart spoke about his unidentified client’s frustration.

“He’s embarrassed, and he’s also angry that he has to defend himself, Hart told the local paper. “He doesn’t feel that he has to be defending himself against something he’s not involved in.

I'm sure it is embarrassing, but what the **** do you want them to do just let it go? "Ah well the teachers are getting embarrassed better let the case of the smack in the teachers bathroom go unsolved."

1. Am I being detained or am I free to go?

2. I do not consent to your searches.

3. I refuse to answer any further questions.

I dont see the teachers or the union doing anything wrong here. Well, outside the cat shooting dope at work...

I would never consent to a urine sample, even knowing that I had nothing to do with it.

One thing I dont get, why dont teachers have to submit to random drug testing. The military does, many other government jobs do, yet people put their children in the charge of those that dont?

I am not saying they are doing anything wrong, they are well within their rights as it stands, I just don't like the whinyness from the teachers about it. Umm, some smack addict is watching children all day, think you can endure some embarrassment until this gets resolved?

regarding the piss test though, cant they just get a court order? Thats probably the only real evidence they can gather, and the teachers can potentially, "wait it out".

I am sure it has to do with union. Not only that, it is not cheap at all. Personally, I feel it is a violation of search and seizure. But I am a hypocrite I suppose because I took one for my job 7 years ago. In the military, you are pretty much a slave anyway so you dont wanna take it? UCMJ

It really isn't because you can choose not to do that job, much like the military. I mean if they enacted that now, I would argue grandfathering the current teachers out of compliance, but from that point on people can opt not to be a teacher if they dont want to get drug tested.

And that is a valid point. I had to offer a TON of information for the gig I am in now. Credit checks, Tax records, etc. But you are right, it was a choice.
