We know Golden State has had interest in Hinrich in the past. Is there anyone at 7 you would move Hinrich for? I imagine Hinrich and the #26 for the #7 and filler(Belinelli) might interest them. We would do this for the capspace to ensure getting Gordon back and perhaps getting a young bigman at 7. If Jordan Hill was there do you do it?

Hinrich,Crawford
Ellis,Maggette
Jackson,Azubuike,Morrow
Wright,Randolph,Davidson
Biedrins,Turiaf

Rose,Belinelli
Gordon,Salmons
Deng,#16(Johnson)
Tyrus,Hill
Noah,Miller

Am I forgetting about a trade exception or something? How could GS take Hinrich back without sending us matching salary?

Assuming you could match the salary some way, I don't think the Warriors give up a #7 pick for Hinrich even in this sad draft.

We missed our opportunity to dump Kirk on GSW. They got Crawford to fill the role instead and have no expiring or unguarnteed deals. They aren't very happy with Jamal but I doubt want him back at his most expensive years of a deal they already passed on giving him.

Doug I might be wrong but I had GS down for only $61 million in salaries for next season meaning if they send us someone who makes a couple million they could take Hinrich salary without going into luxury tax. It was just an idea. I would only do it if Hill fell, behind him there is no one I would take at 7 that is a big.

Right they would be under the LT but you can only absorbs salaries like that with a Trade Exemption or Salary cap space. GSW is over the cap that is about 60 Million. SO they can't just take on additional salary, they have to match.

To send us someone without taking back salary tehy'd need to below the cap by that amount with cap holds for draft picks, min salaries, and FAs. The cap is around 58 million next season, so they would need to have a salary probably in the 48 million range to pull off something like that.

Thanks for that information. I was not aware of that. I don't see a deal with GS for Hinrich that I like where we have to match salary which means Hinrich is gone and Gordon as well since we still would be at the luxury tax level.

Would you trade Kirk/expiring for Monta? Could Monta and Rose co-exist in the backcourt together?

You guarantee yourself not being able to sign Gordon, but at the same time, you replace some of his scoring with Monta's scoring. Not quite the 3 point threat, but he has a lot of talent.

Defense, of course, would probably be the downfall. And whether or not Monta is worth his contract is the key.

i doubt jordan hill would fall to 7, and the next big man on the draft express board is earl clark, who might even fall to us at 16. i don't see a whole lot of use, unless we take tyreke evans as just best available player

I'd rather have Gordon than Ellis. Ellis doesn't have the range to space the floor and is even more deficient in size/defense than Gordon. He's basically giving you the same open court transition game as Rose and some of the penetration game as Rose. Seems like a poor fit as we won't need those skills.

Plus Gordon will likely cost 2-3 million per year less than Ellis while being a better fit.

I've never been fan of Monta, I think he was and is a product of the Warriors system.

Don't get me wrong, he is a talent, but I think he's over-rated.

yeah, he got his money and value based off of need in the warrior system.

they couldn't just let him go for nothing after they lost their all-star point guard in baron davis, they had to overpay him to keep him

How about a different Chicago/Golden State trade---Tyrus for Brandan Wright and Belinelli?

I know it won't happen, but what about Hinrich/#26 for Turiaf/Azubuike/#7pick!

Azubuike would be a very nice fit if Gordon were to leave. Obviously not equal to Gordon, but he'd really help lessen the blow.

I have been giving a lot of thought to trading Miller's expiring contract lately. I'm getting off the 2010 bandwagon I think. Lets make a play this summer while the market is down. It's a great time to be a buyer now.

I think your right senrad. 2010 may be a goldmine, but 2009 will be the year of the buyer. Opportunistic time for the bulls to move some expiring and solidify a future front court.

That's the point and there is no reason to think that under these circumstances the Bulls can't land a star big man.

If they can't there really doesn't seem to be a way to move Kirk for enough space to re-sign Gordon and while GS might want Kirk, what do we really want from them? Places to move Kirk should include Minny still and Portland. Also what about Atlanta and Philly depending on what happens with their PGs? Oddly enough I'd almost include LA... if they don't think Farmar is going to bounce back then their backcourt depth is hurting.
