This isn't NHL, but this was one of the most awesome goals I'd ever seen:

I'm sure you've all seen the one where one of the Russians (I think it was Ovechkin) was getting dragged down and still somehow squeaked a weak stick-side goal past the goalie. That was a combination goal win and goalie fail there because the puck wasn't even going that fast.

Pretty sure this is the goal you are talking about.

The Michigan goal definitely started a new fad in hockey. Crosby pulled it off in juniors shortly after. Just takes a little bit of stick wax/fresh tape and it is easy to pull off...in practice.
