I replaced all my Christmas lights last year with Gemmy Lightshow LED lights that I bought from Home Depot. You just connect the lights together and it will put on a light show for you with different colors and patterns that change every few seconds. I was really blown away by it, and I did feel a little like Clark Griswold. It put all my neighbors lights to shame, and a couple of my neighbors actually went out and bought the same lights about a week after I put mine up, lol.

Here someone's video of it. Note that the spelling in the video is incorrect. The company is "Gemmy." They have displays at Home Depot, you should check it out. It looks a lot better in person. I also bought these LED icicle lighting by the same company.

When I was a young guy living alone, I bought a string of lights, wadded them up in a tangled mess, and hung them on a hook on my porch... always got a laugh.
I added a plastic santa laying on his side with a few empty beer bottles around him.

You mean I can dump 5 full plastic toy bins of string lights for lasers?...no more countless hours of trying to evenly space lights on bushes with different circumferences??.

J/K, I checked them out back in the Fall. The ones sold at Wal-Mart etc just don't cut it. But this is off the chain:

How do those laser projection lights hold up durability wise? I've read some terrible reviews on line of just about every brand. The homes in my neighborhood that use them don't really light up the way they look in the ads.

AFter years of old school C7 and C9 outdoor lights, I have gone the way of LED outdoors.
I also put those suckers up when it was way warmer outside.
I'm not Clark Griswold, but I have a few lights on the exterior, and use the old school Noma C7 lights for our 8' tree.

Have you ever noticed that when a set goes out, it isn't the bulbs or the fuses?.

I put mine out early as well, only there's a downside to this. The rain/snow rain cause the sockets to rust out, and the only way to avoid it is by using commercial stringers with screw in nickel base bulbs.

Which of course cost a small fortune.

The humidity does a number to those sets.
That's why the newer C7/C9 strings are only good for one season.

I have sets that are 70 years old that handle better in the elements.

We have this thing in the Southwest called luminarias and I think they are quite beautiful, even though I don't happen to celebrate Christmas.

I had this idea of making a six pointed star stencil, cutting it out of the bags, and calling them "Jewminarias". But somehow I don't think it's gonna fly.

I think that would be pretty cool actually.
