You're at Home Depot. Zombie apocalypse ensues outside. They're coming into the store. What weapon do you choose? You have less than 3 minutes to choose and prepare yourself.

You have enough time to equip yourself with 1 weapon and set-up a quick defense tactic.

Sure, you could grab a hand-full of hand-to-hand weapons, but I'm going straight for pvc piping, a saw and tennis balls. Run home, cut the piping up into 2 handgun barrels and 2 shotgun barrels, cut the tennis balls in half and fit them back-to-back in the piping and finally attach them to my 2 handguns and 2 shotguns.

Now, I have 4 silenced guns. Silence is key, silence attracts the zombies.

(You'll have to excuse me, I'm on book 13 of the Walking Dead series. What a great series and completely envelops you in the desperation of such a situation.)

At the beginning of any zombie attack, the smart would have time to retreat to their home to use what they already have, but okay....

I'm grabbing hatchets... and making any type of moltov-type cocktail I can create in 3 minutes. All in the hope to get to my vehicle, or escape the back, to get to my house to make my silencers so I can go survive vs the zombies ala Rick

As far as a defense strategy, you use the forklifts that are used in lumber to bring stacks of the wood at the entrances. Barricade any single exit door and then equip yourself with hand-to-hand weapons and fire. Go to the roof, if completely surrounded!

I'm not a giant fan of the first season (even though I have the Blu Ray). I understand the difference between a comic and a TV show, but the intensity and the raw human emotion and conflict is a lot more evident in the comics. I also know that the writers of the TV show are making an effort to take the show in a different direction then the comics, in an effort to surprise everyone when new things happen. I can appreciate that and will watch every new episode because I like the concept but I guess it's like what most people say with movies.... the book is usually better then the movie. In this case, the comic is better then the show.

Oh, and season 1 was only 6 episodes because they didn't know if it would take off. They are currently writing/starting to film season 2 for October release and Stephen King is writing 2 or 3 of the episodes and the season is slated for 13 episodes. Should be very interesting!

Well, since most people define how zombies operate differently, what is their function and kill switch?

Some people say, decapitation is the only way, some have written that any head shot is good.

Do these zombies run, or drag their feet?

Can these zombies jump?

Must the zombies bite you to spread the death, or can any flesh wound with the contact of zombie skin do you in?

Do these zombies have Special person strength, or normal strength?


Either or, I'm going to get a propane forklift. 4,500lbs of mass, 12,000lbs of crushing force, 8 hours of operation, ungoverned 16mph. I can rig the lift and raise myself to higher ground if needed.

Ok. Got 3 minutes. If its classic zombies, theyre slow. Rush to collect any tool with range, be it a hoe, and grab close range like an axe. Grab multiple of each! On way to collect, make mental note of nearby exits. By now zombies have broken into the store. If its classic scenario, the mass is pouring in from one direction. Dash to the nearest exit and slowly open the door. If all else fails, run to another. The amount of zombies would be easy to manage. From there, gun store baby! But keep moving.

To set up a reliable defense, not going to happen with 3 minutes. You could take a forklift, bash some isles into a wall, but than you risk trapping yourself. Forklifts are a death trap. Majority are open, and zombies would get hit, but eventually will get a hold of you. The roof is a trap as well. If you have others nearby, you could shout to them to add more support in fending off the zombies as you all escape. But it'd be chaos with just 3 minutes. If anything, they'd buy you additional time.

Ok......... 3 minutes.

First thing I do is grab a forklift and move the aisles so that they are blocking the front door and there is only a small opening.

Then i grab every nail gun i can find.

you could also rig up a flame thrower, but i don't think that would help against zombies.

I'd probably dual wield small chainsaws and just wait at the point of entry for them.

I'd grab a couple mid sized chainsaws for later (but they would be useless initially without gas). Probably whatever bladed weapon I can find. Axes, hatchets, etc.

I'm guessing I can't get to the roof, because that's would be too easy. So I'd head for the tool department in case I need backup weapons.
