This is fucked up. I am a single guy and I don't need anything big, and my price range is 100-180k just because its dumb to spend more on a house im pretty sure ill be out of in 10 years.
Literally though, If I wanted to stay in Joliet/Shorewood/Plainfield area, I can get a hell of alot more house for that price than along the I-355 corridor which is where I am predominantly looking.
i.e. I could buy the house I lived in through my highschool/college years in shorewood (its currently not for sale but its estimated value is in my range) my parents sold it in '04 (they were the last people to sell it).

yet most of the stuff I find (and my realtor finds) in my primary area are ancient 1000 sqft homes (which to be honest I really dont care, I am more or less just amazed at the parity between locations)
