Hinrich,#26 for Battier, Lowry

This is assuming of course Houston resigns Artest. I love Battier as a player and think he is a perfect fit at the small forward position. Now I realize we have Deng locked up long term but I would play Battier at the SG spot with Deng at SF and then when Deng has his value back and is proven healthy move him for another need elsewhere(probably in the frontcourt).

I'm went you on this my dude! I love the trade because Battier is a standup act; and we wouldn't have problems with giving up points against guys like Ray Allen. Lowry is the perfect point guard when you're looking for a second option. Houston would do it for this reason, Hinrich not only defends but he's the perfect backup for Brooks. I'm sure they see the potential of him and Artest on the floor together. Hinrich and Artest equals toughness. I wouldn't want to be on the opposing team on a off night because you might get your feelings hurt.

I'd do that trade if it means we also get to resign Ben. Though even if we don't it's still a pretty decent trade. I've always liked Battier and he's a slightly better fit in the system than Luol as he can actually make threes. Plus I love his defense so losing Hinrich would be negated. Actually due to his height Battier is probably the better defender.

Why does Houston do this? Battier is a fan favorite and Brooks is better than Kirk. Kirk is the worst deal in this deal. Both Lowry and Battier are on better deals.

Houston does it if they think it improves their team, plain and simple. They have the cap space for Hinrich's deal which is declining anyway so that's why Kirk is tradeable. Personally I don't think Brooks is quite as good as Hinrich, but I could be wrong as I haven't watched a lot of Rockets basketball.

Kirk is the better all-around player. Brooks is by far a better scorer though. I love how everyone talks about Kirk's declining contract, like it goes down $2mill/yr. It's not really that much of a decline. He's still getting paid like $10mill next yr, and $9 the yr after that, so it's not like he'll be at the MLE at the end of his current deal.

I don't really see Houston doin this trade for 1) the fans love Battier and he's a centerpiece of their D, and 2) the Rockets are high on Lowry. If anyone is traded from Houston, it's T-Mac, and that's a player I don't want on the Bulls. Especially coming off microfracture surgery.

How does it make them better? They traded Alston who is about as good as Kirk to make room for Brooks to play. Brooks is a good penetrator and shooter, kirk does neither. Kirk maybe the better defender but Houston has good defenders at every other postion. they take a step back with this deal and lose a key piece to get more depth at a postion they are already deep. Neither Kirk or Brooks are significantly better than one another but Kirk has almost 10x committed salary compared to Brooks and Battier is worth more than a 26 pick to them. Lastly with Tmac questionable to come back, they lose a what eill most likely be one of their starting wings.

Houston will not make this trade. If they were that desperate for a PG, they would not have traded Alston. Plus, what good is Battier on a team that does not practice defense enough?

Well I don't know if Houston would do this either but there is no doubt it would make Chicago better. You get a cheaper backup to Rose in Lowry who is a guy the Bulls front office already likes a lot and Battier gives them an excellent defender with size at the SG/SF position and is on a modest contract. For Houston they need a backcourt defender like Hinrich to go with Brooks. Brooks is score first so having someone like Hinrich could balance them out. I am not sure they would move Battier though even if Artest does come back. I just like Battier as a player a lot and was trying to figure out a way to bring him in.

We lose an excellent defender and get a different excellent defender. However, we probably need the smaller defender more than the bigger one in battier, because I'm not sure how well he plays as a SG as he's more of a SF where we have fewer minutes.

I don't know that the Chicago front office likes Lowry, I'm not saying they don't, but I don't recall ever hearing that they do, nor has lowry ever done anything to make me feel like he's a good PG in the NBA.

Overall, I think ti's easier to run our rotation with Hinrich than Battier.
