This is a pretty wide open topic. All you have to say is how or why you became a fan. I just think it is interesting to see why people are fans of their teams. Anyway, here is mine:

Well, mine is pretty short. I was born in Houston, Texas(go stros!), and we moved to a suburb north of chicago when i was about 2. Turns out I moved to the right city at the right time because that is when jordan and bulls were winning all the championships. Its just always stuck, the bulls and chiacgo. I guess there really isnt a point or a moment where I decided I would become a fan, it just came to me. I just grew up in the right time i guess. And i have been a bulls fan ever since. Anyway, I would love to hear how you became a fan!

I heard about Michael Jordan at school and the commercials in television, and started watching him more than watching the Bulls. I remember the old CBS days and watching Jordan against the Celtics and him scoring that 61 points. I had no idea it was that great at the time, I knew who Larry Bird, McHale, Ainge, Parrish and others were, but it wasn't until later that I realized who Jordan was and how great he was. My mother loves Doug Collins, his expressions and his demonstrative behavior on the sidelines, helped my mother learn the game. I wish I could thank him for that. I lived with older women from the south who never watched basketball and didn't know much about it, except that Magic Johnson always smiled. The Bears, Cubs and Sox had the moments in our house, but by the time the 1990's came around, it was the Bulls time. They were the best soap opera, best drama, best comedy, best everything....and our house was mesmerized by them. I cannot wait to have a family, and start that cycle all over again...

My parents are from Philadelphia so my dad was a big 76ers fan, & I knew about Dr. J, Chocolate Thunder, Mo Cheeks, the Round Mound of Rebound, & others. But he couldn't see many of the games on TV. Cable didnt have many channels then. So I started out a Bears fan thanks to my bro & dad who were bigger football fans than bball. Plus this was Monsters of the Midway time. I started watching the Bulls shortly after that thanks to my brother getting into bball & TNT & TBS started airing games. Perhaps you're noticing a trend here. He was a Larry Bird fan & a Celts fan. I liked them too. And I liked MJ but I was more into Bird vs. Magic at the time. But then in 89 I went to my first Bulls game at old Chicago Stadium. We played the Cavs. I saw Jordan live for the first time. And the old stadium was rockin'. From that moment on it was the Bulls & Jordan & the Jordanaires. And basketball has pretty much ruled my life ever since.

I was born in 88, so it was the time when everybody in the basketball world was speaking about a guy called Michael Jordan. I never saw a single Bulls game in TV (I don´t know if they showed one in German TV) but there were so many people wearing Jordan and Bulls shirts.
So the Bulls logo was the first one I saw and this is maybe how I became a fan. I started collecting Bulls trading cards, posters and cut out every picture from the newspapers and magazines and put them on a paper to have a nice collage now.

In 2000 I started playing basketball in a club, so this was a short time after the Bulls won their 6 championship. Since this I love the game of basketball and the Bulls especially. The funny thing over here was that a lot of Bulls"fans" switched to being a Lakers"fan". I felt like the only one who still cheered for the Bulls.

Till this season (thanks to the nbailp) I couldn´t watch a single game so I only could check the results and watch the 2 minute highlights on NBA.com

But I´m still waiting to see a Bulls game live. Maybe on the 6.october when the Bulls are playing against Utah in London.

born and lived in chicago til i was 13, a bulls game was the only thing that my parents let me stay up late for. ever since memory started etching itself into my brain, being a bulls fan was among my earliest of memories. i was born in 83, moved out to socal in 96, and i too felt like the only bulls fan around.

people around here try to get me to become a laker fan, since ive been here so long. but ill be a bulls fan for life, regardless of where i end up. and growing up watching mj, pip, the worm, the kid, horace.... i feel lucky to be one.

Born in 86 in Chicago, I was born into Bulls fanhood. I can't remember a time that I didn't watch the Bulls. I didn't really become a hardcore fan until post-Jordan. With the 6 Championships, we got pretty spoiled growing up, thinking that championships in the NBA were automatic, and that the Bulls should always compete for them.

After Jordan, I stuck with the team, and I've actually found all the years that the Bulls have made the playoffs, since Jordan, to be more rewarding than those championships of the 90s. This past year, especially, had me jumping for joy.

Sure, it was great to win those 6, but I couldn't really appreciate it as a 4-11 year old.

That sux seph. I gotta say I feel absolutely blessed that I was old enough to really appreaciate & closely follow the championship years. But it's true, we got really spoiled by that period in team history. And this past year was the greatest playoff series I have witnessed post-Jordan. It will never be on the level of the championship years for me, but the series with the Celtics gave me more hope than ever before that we could be a contender in the East in a short period of time & perhaps make it back to the promised land.

I'm sure I enjoyed the Jordan era just fine, but I know that if the new Bulls ever get to a title, I'll enjoy it even more. I've been through the worst, Rusty LaRue, Ron Mercer, Marcus Fizer, and if we got to the top again, it'd be surreal to me.

I was born in 82 so my Bulls memories start around 1989-90 though I was probably watching before that. I don't really remember a pre-MJ Bulls and then after that team split up I was busy with school and didn't get back into it until the tail end of the 2004 season. Initially it was because I watched a few games and liked Kirk...that seems like so long ago. :) The first game I went to live was Skiles last game as a Bull. It wasn't planned of course, but at least I'll always remember the specific day.

Started watching the Bulls in the 1987-88 season.

Had a family friend ask me if I was going to watch the game that night? I was 11 and had no intentions of watching the game, but I decided to. One of the best choices of my life.

I still remember the starting lineup - Jordan, Sedale Threat, Dave Corzine, Charles Oakley and Brad Sellars. Pippen and Grant were rookies and they had that fight with Detroit when Doug Collins jumped on Mahorn's back. Good stuff.
