Curious how you got into posting on message boards. I believe I was looking for information on Madden 2001 and found a site called Madden Mania. I eventually left for a different Madden site, and that's actually where I met @zack54attack . Never thought 20 years later, I'd still be posting on boards. Social Media tried to wipe boards out but we're still going strong.

Depends on the type.

Sports: when I was going to grad school in Buffalo I had no one to chat Bears with, so I joined the CBMB (fall, 2009).

Otherwise: random hobby forums (knife collecting, gaming, gear for musicians, and so on). Various times; definitely probably frequented random gaming forums in the young days of the interconnectedtubesweb.

I first starting posting on bodybuilding forums 15ish years ago to teach scrawny losers like @Leomaz and @dabears70 on how to build muscles. Occasionally help obese people like @Mighty Joe Young lose weight.

I remember i was so valuable on the Bulls forum on Scout that you personally recruited me to CCS where the legend of AT23 grew to new heights.

When I finally shelled out for a modem for my old 386 and signed up for the Prodigy service a few decades ago. They were called bulletin boards and I came across them searching for tour info on bands.

Started exclusively with music, sharing concert info and such, then branched out about everywhere over enough time.

Including joining this bodybuilding forum over a decade ago where @Anytime23 got me to stop being a scrawny burnout pussy and get this work on to take control of my block, my city and my life while slaying 10s & wrecking 2s.

Much love bro!

I first started posting on a website called Gamebattles lol. Like when online gaming was starting to blow up early/mid 2000s.

Then joined CCS when I started working in the corporate world and needed something to pass the time some days

I think when it originally started for me was connecting with other Bears fans on CBMB. Living in FL it was cool to connect with other fans and have the ability to talk with other people in a very niche way.

Social media has been an interesting shift. There are obviously a lot of places to talk about the Bears now - Reddit, FB, whatever. But for me, most of those channels are missing a barrier to entry.

We've got a lot of idiots here, but those idiots will be held to a certain standard. There are people here calling out people for shit they said 10 years ago. While sometimes annoying, I also LOVE it. It's very different than someone popping off on a 3-month-old Reddit account that will probably change 5 more times in 3 years.

Tldr - came because message boards were sorta the beginning of social media in many ways (ignoring BBS etc), stayed because I consider most of you fucktards family.

I honestly don't remember my first forum, if I had to guess it was probably Medal of Honor: Allied Assault when I started playing first person shooters online in 2002. In 2005 I just PSD for the Bulls forum, also I was on a Bulls Facebook group, which Rush spammed recruiting messages with until I finally joined here.

Started on cbmb the Superbowl year because I couldn't get enough of REX. This place beats the hell out of the old board. Thank You Rush!

In 2005 I was so mad Steve Smith rekt the Bears in the playoffs, I went looking for a place full of similarly angry Bears fans.

I found CBMB, lurked most of my time there, then began posting regularly once CBMB shut down and the move to CCS was made.

Started out in 2003 on an Illini basketball board. Just found it messing around the internet. Barely used the internet prior to going to grad school in 2002, had been working in a warehouse with no computer access and didn't even have a computer in my house (until 2005, I think). I was a pretty casual poster in sports and politics. Found this place in 2014 or 15 and it has enough decent conversation to keep me interested, as long time ex-pat Chicagoan and huge Bears fan.

Early AOL boards a long, long time ago. Those went away and found other boards. Landed here for football/sports.

A true legend in your own mind, I can relate to that.

I was coming in from playing a weekend in Rockford on the Greyhound. @Scoot26 propositioned me at the bus station. When he saw my Bears sweatshirt, he told me about this place.

So, to be clear, @Scoot26, begged you and gave you expensive gifts to further entice you to come here only to later mock and oppress you by banning you from threads?

Yahoo Answers haha.

Their sports section was pretty active and some of those guys made a basketball forum, which I joined. After that one died off in about a year, I found this place.
