Millions have been lifted out of poverty
Significant decrease in diseases, child mortality, dramatic increases in lifespan
Can literally access more information than any human could learn for 10 lifetimes, on a phone, and also get to see high definition boobs on that same phone through that same channel
We have put actual feet down on that chunk of rock 250,000 miles away, while exploring far beyond that with other technology
A vast majority of the developed world hasn't directly seen conflict in a very long time
Crime generally continues to decrease, especially in developed countries
People are now much more respected, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation,gender,etc.
Not disputing the issues(climate change/environment overall even though we make much more of an effort to be clean now and are finally turning around to use renewables, potential issues from population growth, nukes,etc.), but we have made some serious progress.

While there have been plenty of good responses to why the modern man is doing things the right way, I'm not necessarily sure our friend Rask is talking about those issues. My guess is that he is more discussing a gradual decline in what is meant in being "a man." My guess is that he isn't saying the modern man is failing by inventing the iPhone, but that the modern man is failing because he doesn't know how to change the oil in his car.
