We haven't yet seen the Bulls play at full strength. Not really. The team has played just nine games this season with Noah and Boozer, and we now know that Noah played those games with a torn ligament...

i'd take a healthy frontcourt of boozer and noah along with taj as a servicable backup coupled with deng, brewer, and rose against anybody in the east....that is a top 3 east team imo along with boston and miami

That is my concern, they may have bumped Atlanta down a cog to have a top space in "purgatory"...where they will be also-rans and gatekeepers for the Eastern Conference over the next few years. I really hope I am wrong...

we're a shooting guard, scorer off the bench, and possibly a back up pg away from being a very good team. unless we get lucky, i don't see a real way to improve. maybe someone wants to gift us a star.

at the moment, i'd say we have a punchers chance.

I think this team can compete with Boston, Miami, & Orlando. It's tough to gauge all the stats at this point since we've been playing crap teams but even when they aren't playing their best they are still finding ways to win. And it's been starting on the defense end. We are one of the best D's in the league, & one of the best rebounding teams, all this without Boozer & Noah together for any significant stretch. One things for sure, this team will not bow down, will not give up, & will never stopping playing every possession like it's their last & that's what gives me confidence. We aren't quite there yet but I don't think we'll be stuck in "purgatory", as Hou put it, for very long, if at all.

But that is the hardest jump to make in the NBA...from purgatory to championship level. Going into the season the question was "how good can Rose be?". The answer is evident, however, the questions concerning the players around Rose still remain. Against the conference's legit contenders the Bulls are 0-3. And they have lost 2 against New York. That is something I didn't like to see either. Hopefully in the coming weeks, the Bulls can show the ability to beat the contending teams in their conference at home and on the road.

Exactly, come playoff time, teams with great rebounding, defense and a go to scorer do well. We have all that. I wouldn;t count us out. We will be able to grind it out. I also think this summer gets us an upgrade at sg.

Agreed. We are definitely not there yet, but we have a key component that Atlanta lacks. We have a team that plays TEAM basketball. Atlanta is very talented but it's a group of individuals, not a team, & this is what has kept them where they are for the past few years. I'm not saying we'll be champs this season, but the unselfish, hardworking nature of this team coupled with a young blossoming superstar who echoes the traits of his team will ultimately accelerate the team's ascension to the upper echelon of the league. Shore up the SG position & I expect us to be right there with Miami for the next several years.

i'd argue that inspite of having a very good player in jj, atlanta doesn't have a player of rose's quality.

I wonder if we'll ever see our current team play at full strength. By the time Noah is back, we may change 3 or 4 faces on this team.

One thing that concerns me, is how Asik's playing time has dropped(with a few games as exception) since Noah's injury. His fouls can be an issue although he has only fouled out once(3rd game of the season). We have to find a way to get Omer the experience he needs in order for the Bulls to slow down those front-heavy teams.

We have to get Omer more physical, no layups. James Johnson needs to see some minutes as well, seems like he was seeing them more last year. I dislike that

Asik was never going to get alot of minutes even with Noah going down. In these situations coaches lean on their vets, which is exactly what Thibs is doing. I love JJ's effort but he still makes an incredible amount of mistakes. He has the tools to be a decent player in this league but I don't see it really happening with the Bulls.
