Not as important as college sports, but it's up there for me.

I think I'm still a pretty big fan though for the league.

^pretty much what i think

i like basketball in general tho i will be the first to say i love college basketball

the NBA is imo a corrupted superstar driven league where any coach with the right players can win...but the level play is so ridiculous that the way they play seems easy to us when really the last player on the bench of an NBA squad could absolutely murder the average Joe 1 on 1. Thats why i like watching it. Watching the amazing highlights of guys like Durant,Kobe,Lebron...the very best in the game.

Plus i also like to see how players from certain colleges do in the pros(including my Dukies) and how the levels are different from college to the pros.

unless im at a baseball game i almost never watch the full game i usually come back to it or something

because i cant stand the pace of baseball

and its even slower now with the dominance of pitching so the scoring is even lower and hits are even harder to come by...

i've been thinking that if they legalized or heck even REQUIRED PEDs would that make the game more attractive from a stand point of the audience craving for excitement...because pitching isnt exciting UNLESS there are no hitters or uncanny dominance involved, or a pitcher with stuff so foreignly unatural and so awesome comes into the league and so this hype from this stuff forces us to watch him(that was kind of long but my example is strasburg) would more hits more HRs make the game more watchable?

Atleast from the common american standpoint where we like fast paced jam packed exciting thrills and that doesnt just stop at sports. However, sports wise football and basketball are well liked particulary in america because well they are american sports but so is baseball but we have come to where we like high scoring high excitement high energy and great athletes. Thats what it comes down to. That's why baseball has lost some popularity over the last 40 years. The rise of athletes. Basketball and football were never meant to be played with players as ridiculously athletic as they are today. Bill Russell would not survive in today's NBA although football has been imo less of a drastic improvement athletically wise but enough to where the hits are harder and the game is faster and more intense. Football back in the old old old days before the 60s in the days of Wallace Wade and old Notre Dame teams.....ancient stuff was very...well not exciting...

Baseball its just....well yes you do have to be "athletic" but when you think about it.....its one of the least physically overall demanding games(yes yes i know about pitching) but in baseball you're not in contact much and not running as much...there is less of a need of being endurance wise "in shape" although in the pros it certainly helps. Baseball does have great athletes but very rarely do they get to show what they can do whether its on the bat or whatever because of the game? Now should that be changed? No...but from an offensive standpoint(reiterating my point before...now americans want athletes to be exploited and more offense;higher pace) the game needs to be tweaked and i dont mean completely changing the base of the game because that would ruffle too many feathers..i mean like encouarging PEDs or adjusting the mound distance or something

However MLB is more popular than the NBA(mostly because of the marketability with the loss of the jordan icon and high marketable players like bird and magic back in the day however i do think the NBA is and will return to higher popularity) right now i think so this arguement is somewhat contradicted by this fact

nonetheless something ive been thinking about

I used to love to play basketball (haven't played in years), but I cannot watch it....no matter what the level of competition. I would never wish it away though as it means so much to so many people; I can empathize with this.

If I'm going to watch, I'll generally only watch the last few minutes of a game...as the baskets made at that point seem to hold the most meaning/bearing on the outcome of a game (as opposed to the 80-150 prior).

I attended a Bulls game a few years ago, and the hysterical cheering that occurred after every frickin' basket simply grew irritating. Every frickin' hoop. :dunno:

Therefore, not much of a NBA fan, but again, I can empathize with those who adore the game. To each his own.

I can also see why people dont like basketball as much because its not really exciting to watch in the stadium(but neither is football but the stadium is so much bigger and spacier and there is tailgating) baseball is much more exciting to see in person and it attracts more people to come to games, increases popularity, etc.

College Basketball is my first......then the NBA. Grew up in more of a basketball atmosphere. I follow every big sport & have a team in each....but NCAA College Basketball is the cream of the crop to me.

I consider myself a much bigger basketball fan then most people who love their football. Speaking of the NBA...I live in a Celtic household lol, had a lot of influence on me growing up even though I'm a Bulls fan I respect the hell outta Boston. Basketball first. :D

Ever since the Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Harper, Longley, Kukoc, Kerr team disbanded, NBA has been meaningless to me. I'll look in on what the Bulls are doing from time to time (reading this forum), but thats it.

To me the NBA is everything. Basketball is my favorite sport because it is so exciting. Every play is different and you never know what is going to happen next. My dream always used to play in the NBA [Just like millions of other teens] but I doubt i am good enough.

The NBA means a lot more to me, than college ball. Mainly because you can follow players for more than 1-4 years, you can trade players, and it's something to be proud of, when your team can get the attention of the whole world. I like college ball too, there's no hate in the NCAA. March Madness will always be more fun to watch, than the NBA playoffs w/o the Bulls.

It's pretty tough being a true Bulls fan & saying you don't love the NBA more....Crystallas is right in my opinion.

He says the NBA playoffs isn't as fun without our team participating in it. I say that, but as all of you would I hope agree.....the NBA ain't the NBA without the Bulls, Lakers & Celtics doing well. Hell, I'll even add the Pistons & Spurs because of their good title runs & good teams in the past.

NBA is as solid as a rock to me.......but NCAA Basketball is the granite in my category.

I go through phases. I tend to ignore certain sports at times. When the NFL season starts thats pretty much my only focus, I give the Bulls a second hand look and since they spend most of November losing I'm not missing much most of the time anyways. I usually will go to a Bulls game in December around Christmas time and once football pretty much ends in January my focus turns completely to the NBA instead March when the NCAA Tournament starts. Then that is my focus until its over (I run a bracket pool). April through June are pretty much dedicated to the NBA. July and August I'm usually lost, though this year was different with free agency.

The NBA isnt as important to me as it could be. If there wasnt such ref bias and other little things like that it would likely have my full attention, but that itself turns my off from enjoying the NBA as a whole.

Yup, that about sums it up for me, too. I am interested to see what happens this year, now that we have a villain to root against (Miami) and the Bulls figure to go pretty deep in the playoffs.

NCAA is boring to me. Why watch sports if you aren't going to watch the best players play? That's my point of view.
