Imagine you are Q...

1. Pick a lineup to send out on the PP. Choose your 2 PP units

2. What kind of plays would you call? I know its hard to do this online without a whiteboard, but try and describe it

3. Just for fun...name someone realistically the Hawks should call up from Rockford/ Trade for to help the PP (If you think they need someone)

Shooting the freakin' puck helps.

Stalberg proved in the Tampa bay game that just firing pucks at the net doesnt do shit...he led the team in shots, but 0 goals

Have some god damn urgency on the power play. They look slow and there is a distinct lack of closing in when they're moving the puck around.

Knock off the dependency on passing the puck through the crease and trying to get jam shots down low. It's not working. Goalies have big pads on their legs.

And yes, take shots. Particularly from up high, by Seabrook. Also, hit the god damn net from anywhere you shoot. Lots of missed shots.

But more than anything- play with some urgency and some speed. Teams are able to kill the Hawks very aggressively because the Hawks aren't moving well or fast enough.

The Blackhawks really have to start from scratch.

The breakout is terrible.

The entry is terrible. I would let Kane carry the puck in just about every time as he does it better than anyone - by far.

Dumping the puck on the entry is not working because the Hawks are letting the other team match up or even out-man the Hawks on a battle. If there are 2 opposing players digging for the puck, there better be 3 Blackhawks in there.

Once the Blackhawks get set up they are getting chances. Only issue is that they are wasting about half of their powerplay on just trying to get out of their zone and into the offensive zone.

I would go with a simple umbrella. Two guys around the crease/infront of the net creating havoc. Getting shots from the point and getting rebounds.

Time to score some ugly goals on the PP. Start scoring the ugly ones and the pretty ones will come soon after.

This I don't understand. You're completely right- it's been very ugly and Kane has been efficient at it. Hell, Kane will see 3 guys meeting him at the blue line and he'll usually carve through them. What is everyone elses problem with this task?

So you'd rather have them make one pass too many, with the last pass being either intercepted by the PK unit or just a bit off, enabling the defender who may have been a step or two out of position to correct himself?

You also have to remember who Q puts on the pp

Toews
Kane
Sharp

Those guys arent known for crashing the net and bullying themselves into position like someone like buff did when he was here...just throwing shots on net will either just be easily saved (due to no traffic in front) or cleared right away

Make a trade to help solve it, I believe we have some cap space left.

True

But Toews was a consistent net presence last night against Vancouver. So much so that I didn't want to see him down there that much... that shouldn't be his job on the power play.

The first thing I'd do is have SOMEONE (maybe Hoss or a bruiser like Carcillo) down on net for rebounds.

It's really cutesy to pass the puck around looking for an opening, but my God, throw the biscuit at the basket! Shots from the point are often blocked, and even something in tight doesn't always work. Let's work on having a net presence, getting the puck to the net, and stuffing rebounds.

As I told the judge when she asked me "have you learned anything in the last few years", "Yes ma'am I have. Good things happen when you throw the puck at the net."

Time for Sharp to realize his back door shit to the net isn't working.

Someone on the Hawks staff should inform these guys that there isnt any standup goalies in the league anymore. NHL goalies are always on their knees, down low....so what do you do when they're low? You shoot high. This not only on the PP but the Shootout as well.

BTW, who was the last standup goalie? Bernie Parent? Has it been that long? I cant remember.

Gump Worsley

BTW, wearing a mask would've been an improvement for him.
