i dont think gordon needs to be the highest paid player on the team. At the moment that honor goes to luol deng. In this economy another one of those contracts would cripple the bulls. Do we want to pay two huge contracts?
What if gordon doesn't fit anymore. Would we be able to trade him with such a lofty contract? How could we afford to go after a star player with such huge contracts on us. If gordon wants 8,000,000. i'm in. 12...10.. you might be pushing it.

however... i think gordon is owed something. if he sticks around, we need to give him some publicity somehing...fans need to appreciate gordon more.

I doubt we'd increase our offer over the 9 million per year we offered last year, and that offer isn't really a killer contract, it could be easily moved later if we needed to.

I think its clear to everyone that BG will not be getting more than 10 million per year. I just can't see it happening. This summer you will see a lot of players getting much less than they normally would and taking the QO or short term deals or picking up options because of the economy and saving for 2010. Mark Cuban said it best, "its a nuclear summer."

The key is gonna be what the other teams offer gordon. We won't offer a 5yr/60mil deal, but if we can swing hinrich to minny, I can see us doing 5/45, or even 5/50.

Again, if Gordon gets no love from other teams this offseason, that helps us, even if it turns into a sign and trade.
