If the Bears really want a top QB in the draft, they can get him.

In 2017, the Chiefs gave up 2 firsts, a third and swapped picks with the Bills for Mahomes. They were hell bent on getting Mahomes no matter how much it cost.

It was a high risk, high reward move that worked out for them. If it hadn’t worked out, Andy Reid wouldn’t be there anymore, and Alex Smith would never have broken his leg.

But it did work out. The NFL turns on such moves. Only losers don’t take a swing, even a big swing.

Reality check: They would not have traded up for Zach Wilson or Justin Fields had they picked seventh. Even if they did it probably wouldn't have been worth the cost just strictly speaking in draft capital. Also, its only marginally less likely they would've selected a franchise altering player at seventh overall than wherever in the twenties the Bears wind up picking.

The Bears have certainly taken their fair share of big swings.

if pace stays i can see the bears taking msadows guy trask in the 2nd rd by trading up, why? because its what pace does...
and the bears will have been the only team to draft 2 florida qbs in the first two rounds because they have such a strong track record of success.
