I'm there too, absolutely can not let a QB like Fields get Burrowed by our shit OL. I think Burrows comes back from his injury well enough because his game is a lot less reliant on athleticism than Fields projects to be; but Bears can not let Fields start his career with a torn up knee because they decided to roll with Leno and Ifedi at OTs.

that’s why you have Nick Foles. Fields needs to ride the pine and learn just like Mahomes. Dalton and Foles > Glennon.
Why? Why does he need to ride the pines?

If he comes in and looks ready and better than both vets what does he gain by not playing?

he gains not getting his confidence shattered and remains healthy until the line can be further re tooled

Interesting, I was under the impression that the draft hadn't ended and the Bears had more picks.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

The line is not that bad, and got better as last season progressed. Getting back starters healthy will show even more improvement. Fields don't need a great OL anyways, dude is a str8 up gamer and will keep opposing DL very very honest.

If he's ready to play you play him. This mentality of making sure he's ready is an old-school one that really doesn't apply to today's game the way it used to.

You see plenty of rookie QBs start early and do fine and for those that aren't that great right-away, the additional reps help them into their second year.

Here's the thing, franchise level QBs either have it or they don't. If Field is legit, starting early is more beneficial than not. Comparing him to the Mahomes situation isn't an apples to apples comparison.

And Bears still have the 2nd/3rd to find OL talent.

Here's the thing - Fields is ready to start today. And if you're the Bears you do it. Idgaf about sitting behind Andy Dalton and 'learning.' The NFL isn't what it used to be. We've seen teams over the years throw their 1st round QBs to the fire right away in their first season to evaluate them and figure out what they have sooner rather than later. It's easy to see if a guy has it or not. If Fields was coming into a situation where he is sitting behind a polished HOF QB - sure that makes some sense. But it's Andy Dalton. Fuck that guy. Also.

Get Fields out there early.

either way, sitting and learning is valuable. you of all people should know how much rushing mitch into action to save Fox’s ass hurt him in the long run.

Mitch wasn't ready to begin with tho coming into the league. He didn't even know what a hard count was. Completely different players.

Exactly there is no justification for a team as bad as the Bears sitting someone they just paid all those assets for if hes ready you play him and the goal should be to get him ready .

I do not think the line is bad enough to get him killed. Especially with his skillset. But i do want him on the bench for a bit to just watch. To see the NFL game speed up close. To look over a series with Dalton and Nagy and see what happened, what Fields process would be. Ask him questions. Answer his questions. Coach him.

I have faith in Fields but id like them to handle this with extreme care. This is finally their opportunity to get it right.

Fields can start and he will if nagy and Pace's job are on the line. Otherwise i feel foles and dalton should compete.

exactly. what’s the rush? is this not why we paid for foles and dalton?

Na and yes, i guess. Foles was brought in to be QB1. I've been vocal about this from day 1. He ended up being QB none. But Dalton for sure.

Mitch's problem was he just wasn't the guy most had hoped he would be, combined with sustained and unrelenting awful coaching and playcalling. Biggest problem for JF will be however long it takes for Nagy to be fired.

Fields comp is more like Deshaun Watson minus the creepy fetish(hopefully).
Both played 2 seasons as the starter, going to the college playoffs twice and the National Championship once (Watson twice). They played for programs that have and play against teams with A+ talent.

If he sits a few games,I would understand, but predetermining that he needs to sit a year is unnecessary.

Oh, and the Bears OL was dead in the middle of the league (17th) for sacks last season even with cement shoes Nick Foles staring 7 games. Waiting years for a perfect line with multiple receiving targets to take the bubble wrap off your shiny new QB is foolish.
