Vintage Harley Davidson motorcycles tend to pique quite a lot of interest when they cross the auction block. But when Jerry Lee Lewis’ classic 1959 Harley Davidson Panhead crosses the block at Mecum’s Kissimmee event, well – we wouldn’t be surprised if there was a “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.” And a whole lotta bidding.

The rock ‘n roll pioneer has decided to let go of this, one of his most treasured Harleys, after a long and loving 55 years of ownership. The bike was given as a gift by Harley Davidson in 1959, and caused quite a stir with another rock idol of the day. More on that in a minute.

"After 55 years solely in the ownership of Lewis and only 2,257 miles, the bike appears just as showroom fresh at it was in 1959."

More than a few probably :)

Does it come with the kickstand brick or is that extra?

Hes a country boy..I think they used the block so the bike would sit up straighter for pics..They tend to lean over usually

Better include your own mechanic in the budget, as you will need one pretty much upon completion of every ride.

Those are the equivalent of owning an original 1970 Cuda w/426 hemi tinkerbox engine.

I can pretty much fix anything on a Harley short of a complete engine/tranny rebuild as ya need specialized machine shop equipment to do that....I owned a 63 for years..You are correct about how they need to be wreched like the old hemis..I would spend all week wrenching my 63 so I could ride on Sat/Sun.

They run much nicer with a magneto ignition, but on that bike I wouldnt change a thing

Even the newer ones can be difficult, buddy of mine has a 91' heritage ST. The motor was blueprinted and built in Seattle, then installed downstate IL.

It is a beautiful machine, puts out almost 115HP. With me on the back, we blew away a dozen rice burners simultaneously...and broke a bolt along the way.

This bike has some serious vibration, and he has no clue on how to maintain it.

Nice bike, its not my prefference but I can appreciate it.

I'm without one for now but if I do ever get another it will be a total "old man "touring, full fairing, with reverse. Probably a BMW along these lines...

After owning my triumph Tiger and realizing that I have short legs I don't ever want to back up an incline again from a parking spot. The electric center stand on the BMWs are sweet as well. Basically I want every amenity available.

Ive never been..I've thought about going as its close by... But my Softail Deluxe is so low to the ground I'd probably grind the floorboards off in 1 trip

On top of that, I installed a floorboard extension kit for more leg room..It moves the floorboards out 1 inch..That doesnt seem like a lot, but when going around curves it plays a major part in how far you can lean without grinding the floorboard.. I have to be real careful with all the curves here where I live
